DELTA STATE MOVES TO PROVIDE NEW FRAMEWORK


FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF CHILD RIGHTS LAW
On Monday, January 27th, the
Secretary to the Delta State
Government, Mr. Chiedu Ebie,
inaugurated the Delta State Child
Rights Law Implementation
Committee in Asaba.

The Committee is tasked with


providing a framework for the
implementation of the
domesticated Child Rights Law
in Delta State and to recommend
s p e c i fi c p r o g r a m m e s a n d
projects, that will enhance the
rights of the children.

OKOWA CALLS FOR ECONOMIC DIVERSIFICATION OF


NIGER DELTA ECONOMIES
On Tuesday, January 28th, Governor Okowa
d e c l a re d o p e n t h e S o u t h - S o u t h E x p o r t
Enlightenment and Engagement Forum themed
“Maximizing Non-Oil Export Potentials in the
South-South Region for Economic Growth.”

The forum, which was hosted by the Nigeria


Export-Import Bank(NEXIM) and the Delta State
Government in Asaba, served as a platform to
share thoughts and generate concepts required
to explore and harness the non-oil export
potentials in the South-South geopolitical
region.

“There is an urgent need for the Governments in


the Niger Delta region to diversify the economy
and maximise our non-oil exports for
accelerated development. To achieve this, we
must take full advantage of our unique location,”
Governor Okowa said.

#SDGs: OKOWA CALLS FOR LONG-TERM STRATEGIES


TO MEET TARGETS ACROSS NIGERIA
On Wednesday, January 29th, Governor
Ifeanyi Okowa stated that with more
commitment and consistency by officials and
institutions charged with implementing the
objectives of the Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs) — Nigeria could meet its
targets.

Governor Okowa stated this when the


Project Management Committee of SDGs led
by its Coordinator, Dr. Ibrahim came on a
courtesy call to the Government House in
Asaba.

“To meet the #SDGs, we need to work out


processes that we can commit to. This way,
anybody that comes into office can continue
to build on the foundation that the
predecessors have laid,” Okowa said.
On Wednesday, January 29th 2020, during a courtesy call to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Dr. M.A Ibrahim, the National Coordinator of the Project
Management Committee on Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs) in the Presidency said this about Delta State.

#SMEs: DELTA STATE MOVES TO PROVIDE SHOPPING


HUBS FOR SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS
On Friday, January 31st, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa,
inspected some of the new arenas in Asaba, which
were built by the Asaba Capital Territory Development
Agency to boost the economic activities of SMEs.

The projects included sets of shops - SMART Delta


Delicacies/Fruit Arena - located at Summit Road,
Nnebisi Road and NTA Junction,  Federal Medical
Center Bus Stop and unveiling of new Dennis Osadebe
Statue on Anwai Road, which was unveiled by the
governor.

In posts on his social media handles, Governor Okowa


said:

“Providing economic opportunities for our people is a


key component of our #StrongerDelta Agenda. This is
why, it was a pleasure to flag-off the SMART Delta
Delicacies/Fruit Arena for SMEs across Asaba. These
new arenas, will serve as a hub to boost economic
activities for our small businesses — and also provide
Deltans and residents with a one-stop-shop for fruits
and delicacies.”
