DAILY LESSON PLAN Teacher Mr. Arvin C. dela Cruz Learning Area Mathematics 10
Teaching Dates and Time March 15, 2019; 1:00 PM Quarter 4th Quarter

Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4

Objectives must be met over a week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the objectives, necessary procedures must be followed and if needed, additional lessons, exercises and remedial activities. May be done
I. OBJECTIVES for developing content knowledge and competencies. These are assessed using Formative Assessment strategies. Valuing objectives support the learning of content and competencies and enable children to find significance
and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly objectives shall be derived from the curriculum guides.

A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of probability.

The learner is able to use precise counting technique and probability in formulating conclusions and making decisions.
B. Performance Standards

C. Learning Competencies/  Review the probability of simple events.

Objectives  Illustrate and find probability of mutually
Write the LC code for each and non-mutually exclusive events
Union and Intersection of Events / Mutually and
II. CONTENT Not Mutually Exclusive Events

III. LEARNING RESOURCES

A. References Mathematics Learner’s Module
1. Teacher’s Guide pages 291
2. Learner’s Materials pages 334
3. Textbook pages 438

C. GAD Core Values Shared Decision-Making, Equalized Opportunities,

Reasoning and Logical Thinking Skills
IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or Recap on Simple Probability
presenting the new lesson

B. Establishing a purpose for the Understand the concepts of events which are
lesson mutually exclusive and which are not mutually
exclusive. (Please refer to PowerPoint
Presentation)
C. Presenting examples/instances Activity 4: p.334, LM (Also, please refer to
of the new lesson PowerPoint Presentation)
The students should be able to recognize
problems on probability which involve mutually
exclusive and not mutually exclusive events.
D. Discussing new concepts and Mutually Exclusive Events – Two events are
practicing new skills #1 mutually exclusive if they cannot happen at the
same time.

Probability of Mutually Exclusive Events

𝑃(𝐴 𝑜𝑟 𝐵) = 𝑃(𝐴) + 𝑃(𝐵)

Non-Mutually Exclusive Events – Two events are

not mutually exclusive if their outcomes can
happen at the same time.

Probability of Non-Mutually Exclusive Events

𝑃(𝐴 𝑜𝑟 𝐵) = 𝑃(𝐴) + 𝑃(𝐵) − 𝑃(𝐴 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐵)

E. Developing mastery (leads to Answer Group Activity ((Please refer to

Formative Assessment 3) PowerPoint Presentation)

1. Mario has 45 red chips, 12 blue chips and 24

white chips. What is the probability that Mario
randomly selects a red chip or a white chip?
2. May has pairs of pants in three different colors,
blue, black and brown. She has five colored shirts,
a red, a yellow, a blue, a white a mixed-colored
shirt. What is the probability that she will wear a
black pair of pants and a red shirt on a given day?
F. Finding practical applications of Describe a situation in your life that involves
concepts and skills in daily living events which are mutually exclusive and not
mutually exclusive. (Let the learners watch a
video regarding Blackjack)
G. Making generalizations and Describe events which are mutually exclusive.
abstractions about the lesson

I. Additional activities for application Agreement ((Please refer to PowerPoint

or remediation Presentation)

Rhian likes to wear colored shirts. She has 15

shirts in the closet. Five of these are blue, four are
in red shades and the rest have different colors.
What is the probability that she will wear a blue or
a red shirt?
