Nature Center’s Pioneer Day 11 am -2 pm
At Immerse, we spent time studying the first people of this place
and experiencing what their lives were like. Students also learned
about immigrants who came to America, and made their way to
Michigan through the Erie Canal. We will continue this real life
learning at Blandford as students learn what it was like to be a
Pioneer in Michigan after crossing through the Erie Canal. Our
third-grade historians will travel back in time to the pioneer years
(1700-1800s) to discover what life was like for people living long
ago. Students will experience a school day in the late 1800' s. In
addition to school life, the students will investigate pioneer home
life through the use of Blandford Nature Center's historic log
cabin. We'll be integrating some important lessons for our
twenty-first-century children and plan to make the day as
authentic as possible. We're collaborating with Mrs. Staal as we
gather together facts, fiction, and fun to help create a wonderful
learning adventure.

What We’re Learning

Bible: Students are learning about Math: Students are continuing
the life of Joseph and his time in to practice subtraction with
Egypt. We will have a test on our regrouping. Please practice
Joseph unit on Friday. multiplication facts at home.

Reading: We are going to follow Science: We are continuing

up on our Immerse learning by
researching and discussing our
lingering questions. We’re going to
use a variety of resources in our
reading and writing.
to do investigations regarding
evaporation and the water
cycle.
Social Studies: We’re
continuing our study of the
Native Americans of this area.
