LO1.1 Production Research:

1. Analyse 2 examples of productions from your genre. You need to

research into the locations used, props, costume, narrative and shot
types. This research will be written directly onto your webpage with
supporting videos and screenshots.

2. Primary and secondary research into codes and conventions of your

medium (music video / short film / stop motion etc.)

- This should include focus groups, surveys, social media

questionnaires
- All secondary research must be fully Harvard Referenced

3. Physical practice examples of codes and conventions uploaded to

your page and their success analysed
LO1.2 Promotional Research:

1. Analyse the promotion of similar product types to yours. You must look
at how 2 productions use:

- Websites
- Social media
How do they use these to promote the production? Design? What
pages do they have? What content is included?

2. Compare the two professional sites to one another

3. What could you take from these to help you create your own website
to promote your production?
LO2.1 Planning and Production:
The Raindance Film Festival will be selecting the winning
production based on the following elements:

1. Mise-en-scene
2. Camera angles and shots
3. Use of correct lighting
4. Locations used
5. Professional pre-production

Prior to shooting your production, you need to plan it to ensure its success.
Complete the pre-production booklet in as much detail as possible as this will
help you to produce as professional a product as possible. It will make your
more time efficient when filming and will ensure you move the camera more
effectively.
Your pre-production should include the following (some may vary dependent
on production)
 Production Schedule
 Script / Shooting Script
 Storyboard
 Props List
 Crew List
 Location Recces
 Clearances and Confirmations
 Contingency Plan

We would like you to avoid using the green screen if possible. You may only
use it based on our approval and with us checking thorough planning
beforehand.

A good video should be shot in a well-chosen location and not rely on using
our studio. In the past, students who have sought a proper location, have
had much greater success with their videos – it is worth the extra effort!
LO2.2 Building Promotion:

1. You are required to build a promotional website for your production.

This site should be influenced by the research you previously
completed, having multiple tabs with a variety of information.

2. Create social media accounts to promote your production. On these

you should have behind the scenes footage and images as well as
promotional material for your upcoming project.
LO3 Weekly Journal:

As with previous units, you should be continuing to complete weekly journal

entries - evaluating, analysing and highlighting areas for improvement.

It is extremely important that these are completed as you work and not just at
the end. Please remember to take photos as you film and screenshots as you
edit. All of this will help to support what you are evaluating.

Follow the guidance available at http://thcvibe.weebly.com/lo31.html to

help you through each week’s entry.
