Title of the Video: Pop culture in the Arab world

Purpose: Western influences with a culturally appropriate

twist on popular culture in Arab countries. Different
influences can actually work together.

Material: EL Feki’s presentation is concise, and she presents a

simple message: Arab pop culture borrows from the
West but retains its own identity (much like
American culture borrows from immigrant cultures)
Method of Delivery: She starts personally, gives examples, and looks at
the big picture, moving from small to large. She talks
about her own experiences and then shows several
examples of Arab pop culture. She talks about how
they blend ideas from other cultures and ends the
presentation with a history of this culture-blending
Message: Shereen El Feki shows how some Arab cultures are
borrowing trademarks of Western pop culture --
music videos, comics, even Barbie -- and adding a
culturally appropriate twist. The hybridized media
shows how two civilizations, rather than dividing,
can dovetail
Manners in Speech: Have a good feel for the message and support, and
she begin analyzing the presentation’s of speech.
