Set-ups

Experimental Set-up

Set-up A: Banana peel paste + sweet potato starch

Recipe 1 (increasing vinegar ratio for solubility):

7.5g banana peel paste 10mL glycerin 5g ZnO nanopowder 100mL water

7.5g sweet potato starch 15mL vinegar 5g TiO2 nanopowder

Recipe 2 (increasing glycerin ratio for durability):

7.5g banana peel paste 15mL glycerin 5g ZnO nanopowder 100mL water

7.5g sweet potato starch 10mL vinegar 5g TiO2 nanopowder

Recipe 3 (increasing ZnO and TiO2 for photo degrability):

7.5g banana peel paste 10mL glycerin 7.5g ZnO nanopowder 100mL water

7.5g sweet potato starch 10mL vinegar 7.5g TiO2 nanopowder

Positive Control Set-up

Set-up: Bio plastics from plant starch

Setup A: Ordinary Bio plastics from corn starch

Recipe 1:

15g corn starch 10mL glycerin

100mL water 10mL vinegar

Setup B: Buy from EcoNest PH Company a plant based bio plastics.

Negative Control Set-up

Setup A: Banana peel paste + sweet potato starch with no treatment of nanopowders.

7.5g squash peel starch 10mL glycerin 100mL water

7.5g sweet potato starch 10mL vinegar

Sampling

Purposive sampling method is used to determine the variable to be experimented. The researchers
purposively chose banana peel because it has a content of NPK (Nitrogen, Phosporus, and Potassium.

Variables

a. Independent variables:

Glycerin ZnO nanopowder

TiO2 nanopowder
Vinegar

b. Dependent Variables:

Durability Photo degradability

Fertility
Solubility

c. Control Variable:

Sweet potato starch

Banana Peel Paste
Water Content
Sunlight exposure time frame

Testing

1. Solubility test (will be done by the researchers)

Step 1: Pour a 100mL of water in a bowl.
Step 2: Put the subject in the bowl and stir it well.
Step 3: Quantify the time frame in which the subject dissolves completely.
Step 4: Make another trials, record the data and get the mean using statistical method.
2. Durability test (will be done by the researchers)
Step 1: Gather three objects with different weights.
Step 2: Quantify the weight of every object.
Step 3: Test the subject by putting every object for it to carry.
Step 4: Run another test trials, record and compare the data.
Step 5: Compute the average weight it can carry.
3. Photo degrability test (will be done by the researchers)
Step 1: Get the subject and expose it in the sun. Do this trial with five subjects.
Step 2: Quantify the temperature and the time frame of the exposure to the sun.
Step 3: Record the details every day in three weeks
Step 4: Compute the average temperature and the time frame it takes to photo degrade.
4. NPK Test (
