Course Description and Objectives:

This course develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills through quantitative
research. The topics include the nature of inquiry and research which includes identifying the
inquiry and stating the problem, learning from others and reviewing the literature,
understanding data and ways to systematically collect data, finding answers through data
collection, and the last is reporting and sharing findings.

At the end of the course, the students should be able to:

 decide on suitable quantitative research in different areas of interest,
 formulate clearly the statement of research problem,
 select relevant literature
 cite related literature using standard style (APA, MLA or Chicago Manual of Style)
 synthesize information from relevant literature
 write coherent review of literature
 follows ethical standards in writing related literature
 explain conceptual framework
 defines terms used in the study
 lists research hypotheses (if appropriate)
 define objectively written review of related literature and conceptual framework,
 describe adequately quantitative research designs, sample, instrument used,
intervention (if applicable), data collection, and analysis procedures
 identify the data with intellectual honesty, using suitable techniques

Grading Criteria:

Short Quizzes - 15%

Long Quizzes - 20%
Activities/Assignments - 25%
Final Exam - 40%

Participation Standard:
Short quizzes are usually after every topic while long quizzes are after three (3) or four (4)

example are available online. Students need to accomplish the requirements on the given
date to avoid conflict.

To label the submission of requirements, kindly use the following:

Surname, Given Name, Middle Initial

For example:
Short quizzes - DELA CRUZ, JUAN MIGUEL B – SQ1(in bold letter)
Long quizzes - DELA CRUZ, JUAN MIGUEL B – LQ1(in bold letter)
Assignments - DELA CRUZ, JUAN MIGUEL B – AS1(in bold letter)
Activities - DELA CRUZ, JUAN MIGUEL B – AC1(in bold letter)
Final Exam - DELA CRUZ, JUAN MIGUEL B – FE1(in bold letter)

Note:
Requirements need to be submitted in the submission links found under the topics for each
week. If the attachment cannot be uploaded due to file size restriction, students need to email
their submission to mentor.inquiry@amauonline.com and submit a 1 page document stating
