Sunday Schedule
Beginning this Sunday we return to
our normal Sunday morning schedule
with Sunday School at 9:30 and
Worship at 10:45. For the five Sun-
days in August, Shannon Runnels
will be leading the Adult Christian
Education class based on the Robert
Morris DVD series called, “The
Blessed Life.” By explaining biblical
financial principles, the series
teaches us how to prosper and how to
move from selfishness to generosity
in every area of our lives.
Church Life
Summer break is coming to a close
as students head back for sports and
soon even classes. FCC held its an-
nual Bar-B-Q this past Saturday with
20+ visitors joining the regu-
lars. Our last Summer event
will be a Water Bottle
Giveaway on Sunday Au-
gust 10th from 2 to 4 at the
Wal-Mart corner. We are try-
ing it on a Sunday and hope
you will all join us in giving
out some cold water in Jesus’
name, just because God loves
people. Let’s refresh our
neighbors with a tangible gift, just as
Jesus refreshes our lives.

The new FCC Blog is essentially a
weekly diary of church life. The
content is constantly updating with
the week’s announcement screens,
the newsletter, any videos that were
shown that Sunday, and the Sunday
sermon. People can literally listen to

as well as

Costa Rica
Our Costa Rica short term mission team has returned full
of gratefulness for the ways we saw God at work. As a
church and team we donated around $6000, pulled many
nails, poured lots of cement, taught children some Eng-
lish, participated in a Block Party, and much more. But
the team received more than they gave in amazing ac-
counts of the intervention of God through normal people
of faith. Hopefully we will never be the same. Maybe
these pictures can
tell part of the
story.
◄ One of the most heart-
rending moments was seeing
this 8 year old abandoned
boy in tears because the government was sending him away to
a technical school to learn a trade—concluding that he is al-
ready too old for someone to adopt. The boy had been sched-
uled to go to the school 2 months prior, but when a major tropi-
cal storm hit the province, he was instead sent to the Abraham
Project. For those weeks he was loved and it broke his heart to
have to leave.
For those more fortunate, the homes and Day Care will be a ▲
source of stability and love for years to come. The team got to
work with these kids a couple of days during the week.

▲The Lighthouse Community Church (Iglesia Comunidad el Faro), a.k.a. the Abraham Project, continues to build
out its 2 acre site in order to reach abandoned children with the homes, needy area children with the daycare
center, classrooms for teaching adults income-producing trades like computer skills, space for free medical
and dental clinics, a soccer court for the community, and of course a home base for the church to worship.

▲In conjunction with a church that met here, we went to the local public school that was on break and ▲had
a Block Party. The church served us yummy rice & beans for lunch. Then we did balloons, face painting, a
gospel drama, games, and gave out goody bags. The kids were so grateful. Afterwards you see some of
them climbing into the back of a fruit truck to ride back ▲ to their plantation-supplied housing.

We also went to a youth camp on an island that

had crocodiles and monkeys around, but we
didn’t see them. It was a great time to socialize
with the youth from the Lighthouse church.▼
