II. What is the difference b/w permutation and combination?

Question No. 3: [10 Marks]

A. Prove general law of addition for Probability?

B. Five items are taken at random from a box of 12 items and inspected. The box is rejected if more

than 1 item is found to be faulty. If there are 3 faulty items in the box, find the probability that the

box is accepted.

Question No. 4: [10 Marks]

Compute the least square regression equation X on Y for the following data. What is the regression

Co-efficient and what does it mean. Also compute the standard error of estimate.

A. The probability that a man aged 50 years will die within a year is 0.00012. What is probability that

of 15 such men at least 12 will reach their fifty-first birthday?

B. A and B play a game in which A’s probability of winning is 1/3. In a series of 8 games, what is the

probability that A will win (i) exactly 4 games (ii) at least 4 games (iii) 6 or more games
