An excavator contains what is called

a house, undercarriage, boom, stick,
and bucket. These components
feature the motors and gears to
move the equipment, lift the bucket,
and a spot for someone to sit and be
in control of the machinery.
The main uses for an excavator are
digging trenches, holes, and
foundations, providing the power to
do these tasks much more easily and
effectively than any other piece of
heavy equipment on the market.

A bulldozer is a powerful and extremely heavy machine used

to move dirt along large open tracts of land. Bulldozers have
a wide, flat blade in front that can be operated using two
hydraulic pistons to move the blade in a limited range of
angles and depths. They are normally used to push piles of
earth and for rough or fine grading, depending on the size of

A loader is a type of tractor, usually

wheeled, sometimes on tracks, that
has a front-mounted square wide
bucket connected to the end of two
booms (arms) to scoop up loose
material from the ground, such as
dirt, sand or gravel, and move it
from one place to another without
pushing the material across the
ground.

A grader, also commonly referred to as a road grader or a

motor grader, is a construction machine with a long blade
used to create a flat surface during the grading process.

A backhoe — also called rear actor or

back actor — is a type of excavating
equipment, or digger, consisting of a
digging bucket on the end of a two-part
articulated arm. It is typically mounted on
the back of a tractor or front loader, the
latter forming a 'backhoe loader'. The
section of the arm closest to the vehicle is
known as the boom, while the section
which carries the bucket is known as the
dipper (or dipper-stick), both terms
derived from steam shovels. The boom is
generally attached to the vehicle through
a pivot known as the king-post, which
allows the arm to pivot left and right,
usually through a total of 180 to 200
degrees.

A dump truck, known also as a dumper truck or tipper

truck, is used for taking dumps (such as sand, gravel, or
demolition waste) for construction as well as coal. A typical
dump truck is equipped with an open-box bed, which is
hinged at the rear and equipped with hydraulic rams to lift
the front, allowing the material in the bed to be deposited
("dumped") on the ground behind the truck at the site of
delivery.

A skid loader, skid-steer loader or

skidsteer is a small, rigid-frame,
engine-powered machine with lift
arms used to attach a wide variety of
labor-saving tools or attachments.
From earthmoving on a building site
to landscaping a park to cleaning
stalls in a barn, skid-steers can be
found helping operators get the job
done.

A wheel tractor-scraper is a piece of heavy equipment used

for earthmoving. The rear part of the scraper has a vertically
moveable hopper with a sharp horizontal front edge which
can be raised or lowered. The front edge cuts into the soil,
like a carpenter's plane cutting wood, and fills the hopper.
When the hopper is full it is raised, closed, and the scraper
can transport its load to the fill area where it is dumped. With
a type called an 'elevating scraper' a conveyor belt moves
material from the cutting edge into the hopper.

A road roller (sometimes called a

roller-compactor, or just roller) is a
compactor type engineering vehicle
used to compact soil, gravel, concrete,
or asphalt in the construction of roads
and foundations. Similar rollers are
used also at landfills or in agriculture.

A paver (paver finisher, asphalt finisher, paving machine) is a

piece of construction equipment used to lay asphalt on roads,
bridges, parking lots and other such places. It lays the asphalt
flat and provides minor compaction before it is compacted by
a roller.

A trencher is a piece of construction

equipment used to dig trenches,

A crane is a type of machine, generally equipped with a

hoist rope, wire ropes or chains, and sheaves, that can be
used both to lift and lower materials and to move them
horizontally. It is mainly used for lifting heavy things and
transporting them to other places.

A Concrete (Cement Mixer) is a

machine that combines cement
evenly to form aggregates such as
sand or gravel and water to concrete.
A typical concrete mixer using a
rotating drum for mixing the
components. Special trucks for
transporting concrete produced and
ready-mix concrete to the
construction site. They can be
charged with dry materials and water,
with the mixing occurring during
transport. With this method, the
material was mixed.

Tamping Rammer is a compacting

machine, capable of quickly working
by applying consecutive impacts to
the surface of the soil in order to level
the uneven surface, to compact soil
uniformly so that the void among soil
particles are minimized and to
increase its dry density with moisture
in the soil removed.

A power trowel is used to create a level, smooth finish on a

large, flat area of concrete, such as an interior floor, or a
poured patio slab for a deck. They use single or multiple
blades that rotate in a safety cage.

A concrete vibrator is a construction tool

typically used on concrete pouring sites.
The vibrators are used to ensure that the
pour is free of air bubbles and are even.
This is so that the concrete remains
strong and has a smooth finish even after
removal of the form work.

The twin-drum roller has two steel drums with one found at
the front and one located at the back. As a result, the drums
move the roller forward and backward, not the tires. Because
it lacks tires, this type of machine does not have great
traction. It is mostly used for asphalt compaction and other
aggregate base materials.

A concrete mixer (often colloquially

called a cement mixer) is a device
that homogeneously combines
cement, aggregate such as sand or
gravel, and water to form concrete. A
typical concrete mixer uses a
revolving drum to mix the
components.

A generator is a device that converts motive power

(mechanical energy) into electrical power for use in an
external circuit. Sources of mechanical energy include steam
turbines, gas turbines, water turbines, internal combustion
engines, wind turbines and even hand cranks.

Air compressors pump high-pressure

air to fill gas cylinders, to supply divers,
to help in powering pneumatic HVAC
control systems, and to power
pneumatic tools. In general, they
power a number of tools used for
construction work or building, such as
jackhammer, sanders, and grinders.

A forklift (also called lift truck, jitney, fork truck, fork

hoist, and forklift truck) is a powered industrial truck
used to lift and move materials over short distances.
