ENGLISH GRAMMAR

E. COURSE DESCRIPTION and OBJECTIVES


o This course will help students develop the tools to effectively use the English language. It
will enable the learner to speak and write by communicating clearly. in speaking and
writing by communicating clearly. Learners will be able to understand the rules of
language, understand all of the tenses utilizes in the language. Create unified and
coherent sentences with a clear topic and minimal errors in grammar, punctuation,
spelling, vocabulary usage, and format. They will also learn to Write with minimal
grammatical, mechanical, and syntactical errors such as subject-verb agreement errors,
and pronoun agreement errors. It will also teach reading comprehension strategies that
involve combining reading with thinking and reasoning within the use of the language.

1. Structured reading presentations

3. Interactive learning websites and web-based practice assessments.

G. METHODS OF EVALUATION:
1. Attendance is monitored each week in the online environment. “Lecture” and participation
in learning activities is required each week. The online system measures time spent on
task.
2. Students are required to actively participate in the online environment through discussions,
activities, and/or quizzes.
3. The student must acquire at least 70% of total points in the course in order to pass.
4. Specific requirements for each assignment are posted in each module.
A passing grade of “C” or higher is required. Any course with a failing grade must be repeated.
Students may repeat a course only one time. Please See College Catalog for specific Academic
Progress Policies.
