PEDAL OPERATED CORN DESEEDING MACHINE

ABSTRACT
Corn deseeding machine is a machine with the mechanical links to separate
seeds from stem with the manual pedalling. In this machine pedal is used to
rotate the rotating disc, the disc is having tapper teeth on its surface which
cause the deseeding of seed from the stem. Now a day’s farmers are
growing large amount of corn, but the market is consuming their corn in
low price. Because they are not deseeding corn from stem. The market
price for purchasing new corn deseeding machine is about cost 2.0 lakh
rupees, so we are going to design corn deseeding machine in low price
without using electricity with more efficiency. Size of the machine is
convenient such that it is easily transported from one place to another
place.

 To make it affordable to the common farmer.

 To make it compact in size.
 To make it portable.
 To avoid damage of corn.
 No skilled labor to operate this machine.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

 The existing methods of corn de-husking in agriculture industry

consist of breaking the grains by hand or by using large machinery
for deseeding.
 There is a damage of corn which is de seeded using presently
available machines.
 There is a need for an innovative idea or product that is feasible, safe,
cost effective and productive for the Indian farmer.

WORKING/DEVELOPMENT OF CORN DESHELLER

The pedal operated maize shelling machine consist of frame, power

transmission system, shelling unit, extension to shelling unit, collection
tray, sitting arrangement for operator, safety guards and bearings .The
main frame was made of MS, it was made heavy to have better balance and
stability during pedaling. The simple bicycle chain drive mechanism was
used for transmission of power. The bigger sprocket connected with the
two pedals acted as driver and drives two equal size smaller sprockets
were mounted on shafts of the shelling unit. The pedaling can be easily
done by the operator by sitting on the well cushioned seat and the pedaling
power gets transmitted to the shelling unit through the chain. The shelling
unit actually shells out the kernels from the maize cob when rotated by
pedal. The shelling was made up of MS round pipe. In this project we are
using cycles base frame on which the corn cutting assembly is mounted.

For cutting feed is given to cutter with the help of chain drive. And motion
is created with the help of pedal. Material used in this project M.S pipe,
angle, chain and cutter with help of this we are making assembly. There is
no alternative source of this kind of work which is cut the corn seed form
corn. In this project when we using pedal the motion is transmitted to shaft
the though the chain wheel and chain mechanism. On that shaft the cutter
is fixed which cut the corn seed.

METHODOLOGY

In this venture we are utilizing cycle's construct outline in light of which

the corn cutting gathering is mounted. For slicing food is given to cutter
with the assistance of chain drive And movement is made with the
assistance of pedal. Material utilized as a part of this venture M.S pipe,
point, chain and cutter with help of this we are making gathering. Cutter is
made by throwing process. Movement is made with the assistance of pedal.

ADVANTAGE OF MAIZEDESHELLER

1) The power consumption is less.

2) Easy in operation.

3) Low cost.

4) Simple construction.

5) Good performance.

6) Easy to setup.

7) Light weight.

8) Easy maintenance

LITERATURE REVIEW
1. Desai Shridhar R et al., [2017] has carried out the design and
development of corn chaff peeling. It has
concluded that the peeling machine has been designed, developed and
fabricated for reduce the efforts of Indian
farmers. The peeling machine was tested in the fabrication shop and later
taken to the field. It worked smoothly
in the field conditions and gives an output of 60kg/hour. The leaf
discharging mechanism is effective and the
corn leaf is discharged very easily.
2. Abhijeet Y. Kedge, et all., [2016] has presented the review on design of
peeling –shelling compact combo
machine. It has concluded that many authors have reported the corn
sheller and peeling design and also analyzed
it for different loading conditions. Now the corn peeling and Sheller
machines are separately available, but there
is no single unit exists consisting of both the mechanisms.
3. Oriaku E.C, et all., [2014] has design and Performance Evaluation of a
Corn De-Cobbing and Separating
Machine. The following are conclusion drawn from this project ,the average
feed rate of the designed machine
was found to be 2.06 kg/min. This implies a value of 123.6 kg/hr while
average threshing efficiency was
obtained as 1.65 kg/min (99 kg/hr). The average threshing efficiency was
found to be 78.93 % while the average
separation efficiency was 56.06 %.
4. J.N. Nwakairea et al., [2011]has designed, Constructed and
Performance Analysis of a Maize Thresher for
Rural Dweller. It has concluded from this project, it is clear that the
machine was designed successfully. The
actual throughput capacity of 109.99kg/hr was far better than the human
actual throughput capacity which was
determined to be 21.1kg/hr.
5. Onkar kale et all., [2017] has carried out the Design and Fabrication of
Automatic Corn Separator Machine and
they have concluded that: 1) The Automatic corn separator machine is
portable as well as low cost Indian farmer
can purchase it easily 2) Performance of Sheller machine is depend upon
mechanical properties of Corn 3)
Automatic corn separator machine can be run by manually by handle as
well as automatically by motor.
