MESSAGE FROM THE TOUR PRESIDENT
Once again, the 2018 tour exhibited great competition in closely contested races for the girls and junior boy’s divisions while a
dominant performance was turned in by John Orlebar winning six of seven tour stop venues on his way to capturing the Bantam
Boy’s Championship. I was very pleased with the level of competition and more importantly the fine etiquette and conduct of our
tour members throughout the 2018 season.
A continued focus on rules and pace of play, requiring all new eligible participants to obtain Level 1 rules certification from Golf
Canada, paid off with fewer rule discrepancies, a greater understanding of the rules and their application while maintaining good
pace of play aligned with our experiences from last year, our inaugural year of establishing rules education for our players. Our
pace of play was tracked for each group at each event and we were encouraged that our policy continued to reinforce the benefits of
the rules training and education by maintaining average round times of less than four hours and thirty minutes.
Thank you to Deb Eldridge, our Tour Coordinator, all of the Board members, the golf facilities and their professional staff and
volunteers for their service to the tour throughout the 2018 season.
This year the Girls Division was dominated by two competitors, Megan Miron & Skylar Kew. A “teeter totter” trade of tour stop
victories left them in a tie at the top of the Girls division point standings entering the seventh and final tour stop at Heron Point Golf
Links. It was 2-time and defending champion Skylar Kew that continued her stellar play capturing the final tour stop victory for her
fourth event triumph of the season securing her third consecutive HHGJT Girls Championship. Congratulations Skylar!
Conversely, in the Bantam division it was total domination by Bantam Boys Champion and Todd Shannon Memorial Rookie of the
Year award winner, John Orlebar. John was co-medalist at the qualifying day event in June at Chedoke GC and carried forward his
winning tendencies with victories in the first six tour stops before Avery Mahoney topped the leaderboard, winning the final tour stop
at Heron Point Golf Links. John’s nearly six hundred point margin of victory is the largest margin ever recorded in our Bantam
division history. Congratulations to the HHJGT Bantam Boy’s Champion and well played, John Orlebar!
Finally, in the Junior boy’s division, we had seven different tour stop winners and, in the end, it was the consistent performance
coupled with a final tour stop victory at Heron Point Golf Links that propelled Patrick Maloney to the HHJGT Junior Boy’s
Championship title, and ownership of the coveted HHJGT Champion’s Jacket. Congratulations Patrick!
Recognition and appreciation for our continued partnership with Andrew Vento, Program Coordinator, Humber College Professional
Golf Management Program. Representing the PGM Program from Humber College, Nathan Park, was a fixture on the first tee at
many of our tour stops this season and was the presenting sponsor of our final banquet at Heron Point. We hope to continue this
relationship moving forward where both sides benefit equally from this partnership.
We are truly thankful to ClubLink’s generous offering of four great golf venues for our Tour this season. Additionally, thank you to
Dundas Valley G&CC, Beverly G&CC, and Southbrook G&CC, your professional staff and management teams for use of your
facilities in support of the tour.
Taylor Leibow has been a long-time supporter and wonderful partner of the tour over the years providing us a meeting room venue
during the winter for our Board of Directors meetings and generously providing annual accounting services to the tour whose
support is critical to our non-profit tour.
Thank you to the parents and guardians that bring our competitors to each tour stop. On behalf of the players and the Tour, we
greatly appreciate your support.
In conclusion, I would like to wish all our junior tour members a safe and prosperous off-season and we look forward to seeing you
in 2019. For those members moving on, we appreciate your participation and sharing experiences in helping to make our Tour the
“gold standard of Junior Tours.” Hoping you all achieve your future goals and aspirations.
Thank you to past President, Scott Niewland, and the Board of Directors for your support and guidance during my first year as Tour
President. Your enthusiasm for the Tour and support of junior golf development in the Hamilton & Halton regions is inspiring and I
appreciate your commitment to the Tour and support of our mandate. I look forward to working with you in our 36th year of the
Hamilton Halton Junior Golf Tour supporting the growth and development of junior golf in the Hamilton and Halton golf communities.
Best regards,

2018 QUALIFYING DAY REPORT
Qualifying day was once again on the first Sunday of June (June 3, 2018). The weather
was reasonably good, with only the last few groups experiencing a little rain.
Our qualifying numbers were much lower this year with only 16 Bantams and 38
Juniors, for a total of 54 players. Girls did not have to qualifying as we only had 5
register, and they were all accepted.
Thanks again to Chedoke Golf Club and head professional, Marc Arnett, for their
support as hosts to our qualifying round. We wish to thank the Tour Directors who
offered their time with starting (Deb Eldridge & John Najev), registration (Garry McKay &
Ruth Giles), scoring (Garry McKay & Rick Bahula) on course (Bob Kendall & Bruce
Heagle) rules officials (Brent Warriner & Ian Giles). Thanks to Deb Eldridge for
computer scoring.
We would like to thank Paul Oehring, Titleist representative, for his contribution of
Titleist two ball packages that each qualifying day player received.

August 2-5, London, Ontario
Thames Valley Golf Club
Friday evening, August 3, saw Ian and I meet with Deb Eldridge and John Najev, to take
over chaperoning the HHJGT's, golf team. Deb and John had seen to the team getting
settled in the dorms at Western University, attending the Opening Ceremonies on August

Our Teams played great and on the final day, our Boys found themselves in a playoff for
third place. It was an exciting finish and the boys did themselves proud, convincingly
winning the third place medal.
Results: Team HHJGT - Boys, Bronze medal with Patrick Maloney winning the Bronze
