Testing Procedures

The purpose of these procedures is to establish a consistent approach to the

measurement of car blanket stored on our company. The following procedures will be used in
determining the size of all boats accepted for storage by our company.

When a car blenket is accepted for storage, it will be inspected by final quality
assurance section instead of in process quality control team during the manufacturing
process. This inspection will be carried out to determine if there have been any modifications
which will make it larger (smaller), in other words to ensure the dimension is meeting to
customer requirement, which refer to the specification.

QA will select randomly from the manufactured lot by the production section.
Sampling quantity is according to the sampling plan established by the company.

The dimensions of a car blanket will be base on the technical specification given, such
as height, length, wide and other parameter describe in the specification. For example we had
selected several critical dimensions as example. Since the length of the car blanket is large, so
the suitable measuring equipment is tape meter.

Measuring techniques

1. Ensure the measuring tape “0” mark on the tape must be lined up with the edge of
what we are measuring. Start measurement from this point.
2. Read the measuring result from the tape meter and record into the test result.
3. Repeat step 1 and 2 for every parameter and sample.
Data Analysis

Output or result of the product is the key point to measure the performance of the
process during the manufacturing flow. It’s describing the ability of our product to meet
customer specification in term of material grade, functional, and dimensions. As example of
the project we had calculated the performance of the dimension result to meet customer
specification. From the result we will calculate several terms in statically such as below:-

Mean
The mean (or average) of a set of data values is the sum of all of the data values divided by
the number of data values.  That is:

Median
The median of a set of data values is the middle value of the data set when it has been
arranged in ascending order.  That is, from the smallest value to the highest value.

Mode
The mode of a set of data values is the value(s) that occurs most often.

Standard deviation and variance

The standard deviation equation is:

It must be noted that this formula is for the sample and not for the population.

The variance is therefore equal to the second central moment (i.e., moment about
the mean),
The mean, median and mode of a data set are collectively known as measures of central
tendency as these three measures focus on where the data is centred or clustered.  To analyse
data using the mean, median and mode, we need to use the most appropriate measure of
central tendency.  The following points should be remembered:

 The mean is useful for predicting future results when there are no extreme values in
the data set.  However, the impact of extreme values on the mean may be important
and should be considered.
 The median may be more useful than the mean when there are extreme values in the
data set as it is not affected by the extreme values.
 The mode is useful when the most common item, characteristic or value of a data set
is required.

Standard deviation is a statistic that tells how tightly all the various samples are clustered
around the mean in a set of data. When the samples are pretty tightly bunched together and
the bell-shaped curve is steep, the standard deviation is small. When the examples are spread
apart and the bell curve is relatively flat, that tells it’s have a relatively large standard
deviation.
