Install Panasonic PMS Interface Software
(1) Connect PBX and PC by LAN or USB.
Use same cable for PC programming.
(2) Power ON PBX. Make sure Bad Rate of the port on PBX
(3) Connect Dongle to USB port (or parallel port (printer)) on PC.
(4) Insert PMS I/F CD. Automatically start installation.
(5) Select Panasonic PMS Interface Software and press Install key.
(6) Select Panasonic TSP and press Install key.
When using LAN: Set IP address and port number of PBX.
When using USB: Install USB Driver for KX-TDA after installing
Panasonic PBX Driver
(7) Start PMS I/F from the Program Folder.

The purpose of the main window is monitor the currently defined devices status and activities.
How does PMS Interface do it?
(1) Bridge between device and device. (Device = PBX, PMS, CA etc...)
(2) Receives Message from a device.
(3) Performs Message to Command translation.
(4) Transfer parameter (Extension, Time etc...) in Message to Command by Field.
(5) Performs Field standardization (Masks) and translation (Re-map)
(6) Monitors device activity. Device

What is a Device?
(1) A system that sends information to another system.
(2) A system that receives information from another system.
(3) A device has a physical connection to the outside world.
(4) A device has a ASCII protocol by which information is shared with other systems.
(5) A device sends or receives data in units called records or blocks.
(6) The device‘s records or blocks have a format.

What is a Message?
(1) A message is a block of information (record) received (from a device) and identified by PMS I/F S/W.
(2) A message is made up of fields.
(3) A field may be used as a trigger.
A trigger is a means of identifying a message based on the contents of a field.
(4) PMS I/F S/W will send a command to the specified device when a message is identified.
(5) If there is no trigger match for a received record, PMS I/F S/W will discard the record.

What is a Command?
(1) A command is what PMS I/F S/W sends to a device.
(2) A command is usually invoked by an incoming message.
(3) Initial Link is a command sent to a device by PMS I/F S/W at device initialization (startup) time.
(4) Heartbeat is a command sent periodically by PMS I/F S/W to the specified device.
(5) A command may require a response from the device.

What is the “****.pmi” file?

(1) Defines a PMS Interface configuration.


(2) Contains a list of Devices(pmd files).
(3) Contain the Re-map tables.
(4) Contains e-mail server definitions for Alarm.

What is the “****.pmd” file?


(1) Contains the definition of the Device.
(2) Define a format of protocol.
(3) Messages for a device.
(4) Commands for a device.
(5) Alarm for a device.
(6) Macros for a device.
(7) Date masks for a device.
(8) There will be one pmd file for each device.
Which connection type supported by PMS I/F S/W?
(1) KME : Panasonic PBX interface.
TAPI Base Interface for KX-TDA/TDE PBX.
Requires the installation of a PBX Driver.
(2) COM : RS232C. (Connection via serial port on PC)
Common interface for PMS.
(3) TEXT : Text file for TABS Call Accounting for Windows only.
Interface to devices that communicate via files on a disk.
Separate files : One for input and one for output.
(4) DB : Database (Through ODBC, DAO or OLEDB ) (Silverbvte FOS)
(5) PRNT : Printer. (Output only)
(6) DISP : Screen of PC.
Allows the PMS I/F operator to manually send a command to another device.
