LESSON PLAN
Final Demonstration Teaching

Grade level: Grade 11/ 12

Subject Title: Biology 1
Quarters: 1st to 2nd Quarter
Date: March 07, 2018

Content Standards
The learners demonstrate an understanding of the cell cycle.
Performance Standard
The learners shall be able to construct a 3D model of a plant/ animal/ bacterial cell using
recyclable materials.
Learning Competency
The learners characterize the phases of the cell cycle and their control points
(STEM_BIO11/12- Id-f-6)

I. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to;
1. describe the different stages of cell cycle
2. identify the events happening in the interphase stage
3. develop cooperativeness in class activities

D. Concepts

 Cell cycle- is a series of events or an ordered sequence of events that take place in a cell
from the time the cell is produced to time it reproduces again.
2 Phases of Cell Cycle

 Interphase (Chemical Phase) - cell is not dividing but busy in preparation for the division
stage of the cell cycle.
 M Phase or Mitotic/ Meiotic Phase (Mechanical Phase)
Interphase Stages

 Gap 1 (G1) – the cell increases its size by taking in water and nutrients and boiling new
protoplasm
 S Phase – during the period, DNA replication or synthesis is the most important activity of
the cell
 Gap 2 (G2) – synthesis of RNA and proteins necessary for chromosome synthesis and for
mitotic spindle. It is shorter than G1 and S Phase.

III. LEARNING TASK

A. Daily Routine
1. Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance
3. Passing of Assignments

B. Drill
FLASHCARDS
 Let the teacher flash the cards of the different parts/ organelles of the
cell.
 Let the students give the specific role or tell the corresponding function
of each part in the cell.

C. Review
FILL ME UP!

PROKARYOTIC EUKARYOTIC
CELL CELL
 Let the teacher show a Venn diagram, call some students to pick cell parts
and organelles on the pocket and put it according to where type of cell it
can be seen or found.

D. Motivation
Guide Questions:

 Have you ever watched or seen a caterpillar turn into a butterfly?

 From that, you’re probably familiar with the idea of a life cycle. What
comes into your mind when you hear the word cycle?
Let the teacher show 2 pictures (cell and cycle logo).

 What words can you form by looking at these pictures?

Let the teacher a blank concept map and ask the students to fill it up later after
the discussion.

 Are you ready to know what happens during cell cycle?

E. Lesson Proper

a. Pre- activity Discussion

 Students will be grouped into five (5).
 Each group will be assigned to do different activities. Different pictures of
the processes in the cell cycle will be given into groups.
 The group will observe what happens to the cell in the pictures and will
write their observations on the paper.

b. Activity Proper
 Performance of the students.

c. Post Laboratory Discussion

 Presentation of the group output.
 Yesterday, I asked you to search on the meaning of a cell cycle. Could you share
us what you’ve got?
 Cell cycle can be divided into two main phases. What are those?
 During interphase, what do you think happens to the cell in general?
 What do the cell prepares?
 What must this newborn cell do next if it wants to go on and divide itself?
 From the works of your group, what do you think happens in the first step of
interphase, G1 Phase?
 How about in the second step?
 What do you think happens during S Phase?
 How about in the last step of interphase? G2 Phase?
 What are the two types of cell division?
 Which cell structure do you think describes Mitosis? Meiosis?
F. Generalization
 Let the teacher show the blank concept map and let the students fill it up.

G. Application
 Why is it important for the cells to undergo cell cycle?
