BIOGRAPHY OF NAYIB BUKELE

Nayib Bukele is a young politician and

businessman who has generated a positive
transformation in the perception of Salvadorans on
issues of governance and democracy. And,
despite its short path in these areas, a municipality
of La Libertad called Nuevo Cuscatlán has gained
popularity for a new form of municipal public
management in El Salvador.

Bukele implemented new ways of development, in

the hands of public-private alliances, which have favored the inhabitants of
Nuevo Cuscatlán from the beginning, and therefore, thousands of Salvadorans.
Recently he did what a political character had not achieved in the country's recent
history: being mayor of a municipality, and then being elected to govern the nerve
center of the country, the capital, San Salvador.

Biography

Nayib Bukele was born on July 24, 1981 in San Salvador. He is the son of Olga
Ortez de Bukele and Armando Bukele Kattán (n. 1946 - m. 2015), who was an
important character of Salvadoran business and political life, doctor of Industrial
Chemistry, physicist, historian, economist, journalist and self-taught. From a
young age, Nayib was recognized for his intellectual capacity and his
entrepreneurial spirit. With only 18 years, I was already running a company.

The mayor of San Salvador liked astronomy and sports as a child. But it was the
values instilled from the cradle that refer him to his current interest in the social
welfare of the country.

His wife is Gabriela Rodríguez, with whom he married in December 2014, she is
the municipal banner of the arts and culture and rights of women, dancer and the
director of a center for helping parents and babies, called Prepare.

Nayib was mayor of the municipality of Nuevo Cuscatlán since May 1, 2012, and
from that moment generated a series of substantial changes in the lives of the
inhabitants of that small town, located a few kilometers from San Salvador.

As an example, he did not receive any salary for being mayor. His salary item
went to a scholarship fund for young people in the municipality.

This philosophy of refusal to take the municipal government as a means of

individual economic growth allowed during its management projects that were
believed impossible.

salvadoreños. Recientemente hizo lo que no había logrado un personaje político
en la historia reciente del país: ser alcalde de un municipio, y luego ser electo
para gobernar el centro neurálgico del país, la capital, San Salvador.

Nayib Bukele nació un 24 de julio de 1981 en San Salvador. Es hijo de Olga
Ortez de Bukele y de Armando Bukele Kattán (n. 1946 – m. 2015), quien fuese
un importante personaje de la vida empresarial y política salvadoreña, doctor en
Química Industrial, físico, historiador, economista, periodista y autodidacta.
Desde muy joven, a Nayib se le reconoció su capacidad intelectual y su ánimo
de emprendedurismo. Con tan solo 18 años, ya dirigía una empresa.
Al alcalde de San Salvador le gustó desde niño la astronomía y el deporte. Pero
fueron los valores inculcados desde la cuna los que le refieren su actual interés
por el bienestar social del país.
Su esposa es Gabriela Rodríguez, con quien contrajo matrimonio en diciembre
de 2014, es estandarte municipal de las artes y la cultura y derechos de la mujer,
bailarina y la directora de un centro de ayuda a futuros padres y bebés, llamado
Prepare.
Nayib fue alcalde del municipio de Nuevo Cuscatlán desde el 1° de mayo de
2012, y a partir de ese momento generó una serie de cambios sustanciales en
la vida de los habitantes de ese pequeño pueblo, ubicado a pocos kilómetros de
San Salvador.
Como ejemplo, él no cobró sueldo alguno por ser alcalde. Su partida salarial se
destinó a un fondo de becas para jóvenes del municipio.
Esa filosofía de rechazo a tomar el gobierno municipal como medio de
crecimiento económico individual permitió que durante su gestión se
concretizaran proyectos que se creían imposibles.
