WELCOME

The CICM 2020 will be an extraordinary event in the history of civil engineering
groundwork and material science in Bangladesh. The conference will be held at
the premises of the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) from 13
to 15 December, 2020 involving a diverse national and international community
of researchers in the field. The conference will be a great platform for the
scientists working on Infrastructure development to present their innovations and
getting the exposures of cutting-edge knowledge. Bringing together leading
academicians and practitioners from different countries around the world, it is
expected that the conference could able to provide excellent opportunity for
networking and sharing experiences in the application of technology throughout
the learning cycle. After the first conference (CICM 2015), the organizers
received enormous positive responses from the conference attendees including
the foreign delegates and leading academicians around the globe.

MAIN THEME

The theme of CICM 2020 is “Resilience and Sustainability”


The conference is being organized in honor of Engineer Dr Fazlur Rahman Khan.
Dr F R Khan was a Bangladeshi structural engineer who was considered the
"Father of modern tubular designs" for high-rise structural system. He has been
called one of the 'Greatest Structural Engineer of the 20th Century' for his
innovative use of structural systems for skyscraper design. The conference aims
to bring together latest innovation in the field of structural and geotechnical
engineering towards the development of sustainable and resilient city and
highlight Dr F R Khan's contributions.

VENUE

The conference will take place at Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), which is located
in Mirpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh. MIST is the pioneer Technical Institute of Bangladesh Armed Forces. It
was the visionary leadership of the Honorable Prime Minister of People’s Republic of Bangladesh
Sheikh Hasina to establish this Institute.

AWARDS

Two Prestigious awards (one by the name of the ‘Father of the Nation Bangabadhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman’ who is the architect of independent Bangladesh and another one by the name of ‘Fazlur
Rahman Khan’) will be presented during the closing ceremony on 14 December 2020 to two different
Professors/Researchers who has conducted exemplary research work with an outstanding career
accomplishment in the area of civil infrastructure or innovative engineering materials.
In addition, five best paper awards will be given to students based on excellent research works.

PUBLICATION

The organizing committee is trying to publish the proceedings either with Springer or Elsevier.
Moreover, few selected articles will be published in the MIST Journal following formal review process.
