One thing I don't understand is that if unemployment is so high right now (and I agree
with the people here that say in reality it's probably closer to 20%) than please help me
understand why:
You still can't find a parking spot at the mall (or walmart, target, etc) and have to fight
through hordes of people as you make your way from one store to another?
Restaurants still have lines out the door and upwards of an 1 1/2 wait (especially on
weekends)?
Traffic on the freeway is worse than ever?
Forclosures and other homes on the market are being bid on by at least 20 or 30
people per home?
I mean if things are so bad wouldn't think all of these things would be noticeable
different? The bottom line is that you could have fooled me that we are in midst of the
greatest recession since the 1920's, at least in Southern California because people
everything I've seen indicates that people are still living in a delusional fantasy world
and spending way above their means. I guess unemployment checks pay better than
most salaries or something.....

For all those who are lucky enough to have a permanent full-time position....what r u
doing here beating down the rest of us when we are already down? I personally have
been unemployed since June 2008. ALMOST 2 years!!!! and that was being a school
Librarian at an elementary school!!!! Haven't been able to find a position comparable to
my 6 hours position at just 17.00/hr with benefits. Not that i haven't worked in almost
the past 2 years, I have but part time temporary work doesn't cut it. as well as
substituting for the district I was laid off from. On top of that you have a 1 week waiting
period from EDD where they dnt pay you, everytime you file a new claim....This is a
never ending cycle until the recession is allowed to hit everyone, instead of jus the
middle class. Until then the country wont bounce back, until we are all in dire need of
resources will we change. another issue to vent, why is obama so strung on passing
the health care reform, before reforming our Petroleum prices and creating actual
jobs.....I understand Health care needs to be reformed, but before jobs and with gas
prices at almost 3.50 per gallon, im sure with the money saved and earned health care
reform isnt even an issue....

I have said it before, and I will say it again, the best part about OC is moving out and
never going back. There will never be enough jobs, enough housing, enough gas,
enough anything to satisfy the demand of this "fine" county. Too many greedy people
that are too scared to leave the Orange Curtain, because they might have to actually
see real life. Go back to school, get educated, and then you realize that $2000 a
month for a 2-bedroom apartment is a dumb idea. Stop blaming the U.S. Government
and start taking responsibility for ourselves. I feel sorry for anyone with kids having to
try to grow up in this area. You can't afford to take care of them properly. Good luck
with that job hunt, I feel sorry for those that have just been laid off or let go or Chapter
