AUGUST 02, 2019
GRADE 7 Science
SSC - T. Edison (9:20am–10:20am)
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
differentiate plant and animal cells according to presence or absence of certain organelles
(S7LT-IId4)
1. identify the different parts of an animal and plant cell;
2. determine the specific functions of each part;
3. differentiate plants and animal cell according to the presence and absence of certain organelles; and
4. explain why cell is considered the basic structural and functional unit of all organism.
III. PROCEDURES
1. Daily Routine
a. Prayer
b. Greetings
c. Checking of Classroom Situation
d. Checking of Attendance
e. Checking of Assignment
2. Review
1. What are the different levels of biological organization?
2. How would diseases or injuries affect the smallest unit up to the largest one?
3. Motivation
You have learned that cell is the basic and functional unit of life. Do you think there are still
smallest parts that made up the cell?
Let the students match the given phrases that corresponds to the pictures.
Allow them to analyze the phrases.
1. Are you familiar with the common words used with every phrase?
Answer: Yes.
2. What part of speech is that?
Answer: Verb.
3. Can you define what is verb?
Answer: Verbs is an action word; a word used to describe an action.
4. How you are going to use that phrases into a complete sentence?
Answer: 1. The school canteen packs foods for the students.
2. The main electrical switch gives power to the entire school.
b. You have discovered that cells can be in spherical or rectangular shape based on its type. Find the
area of a rectangular cell if it has a length of 12 um and a width of 8 um. ( u means micro- )
12 um
8 um
Answer:
Area of the rectangle = length (L) x width (W)
= 12 um x 8 um
A = 96 um2
Below is a magazine that shows how cell was first discovered. Filled up the dotted lines to unveil
the clue words. Use it to answer the following questions.
A. Activity
By analyzing the figurative comparisons between cell parts and places inside the school,
try to determine the functions of each cell parts. Complete the sentences below.

B. Analysis
1. What do you think will happen if the plasma membrane does not function properly?
2. What is the purpose of the cell wall in plants?
3. Why are there several chloroplasts in plants?
C. Abstraction
1. Which cell parts are found in both cells?
2. Which are present only in plant cells?
3. Which are present only in animal cells?
4. How does animal cell similar with plant cell? How are they differ?
D. Application
After learning the different parts of plant and animal cell, the class will be grouped
according to their interest to perform an activity.
Artistic Illustrators
This group will make a drawing portraying the different parts of an animal cell and its
functions.
Cellular Singers
This group will compose a song presenting the different parts of plants cell and its
functions.
Poetic Analyzers
This group will write a poem showing the similarities and differences of plants and
animal cell depending on the presence of organelles.
5. Cells have different organelles. What are the two organelles that can be found in plant cell but
not in animal cell?
a. chloroplast and cell wall c. lysosome and ribosome
b. cell wall and centrioles d. vacuoles and mitochondria
Answer Key:
1. b
2. c
3. c
4. b
5. a
V. ASSIGNMENT
Direction: Read and analyze the selection given. Answer the question that follows.
Cell is the basic and functional unit of all organism including humans. If cell would be damaged
or diseased, the whole organism may suffer. Sickle cell disease is an inherited disease caused by
damages in the production of hemoglobin in red blood cells which takes up oxygen in the lungs and
carries it through the arteries to all the cells in the tissues of the body. What do you think will happen
to an organism if the hemoglobin would continue to decrease?

activities for remediation who scored
below 80%.

No. of leaners who have caught up with
the lesson.
D. No. of learners who continue to require 0
remediation.
E. Which of my teaching strategies work Presenting a human
well? Why did this work? torso. The students could
see what are the different
parts that made up a
human.
F. What difficulties did I encounter which None.
my principal or supervisor can help me
solve?
