2. PROJECT BACKGROUND
This parcel of island then called “Pantay” which means an island forms
by means of receding waters. As days passed by, the populations grew.
The eastern named “Pantay Daya”, the western portion was “Pantay Laud”
and the middle portion named “Pantay Fatima”. With the settling of the
Benedictine nuns and sister, who constructed a shrine in the cova of their
monastery with our Lady of Fatima in the middle, adopted the term Fatima.

Once harvested, stalks of water lilies will be dried under the sun
and will be cut, bent around a wire frame, flattened or gone through
welding. After which, they will be weaved, trimmed, blow torched,
applied with glue and varnished to the desired finish.
Finish products include tissue holders, bags, slippers, baskets,
floor mats, lamp holders, notebook covers and many others. The
organization will sell these items in the market with foreigners as the
top buyers. The profit that they would get from it is equally distributed
to all the members after they has set an amount for their revolving fund.
d. Inputs/Activities
In the first stage, the Barangay Council will identify and approach
potential participants, and priorities for each of the components will be
defined by means of participatory appraisal. The principal topics/
problems and techniques to be employed will be determined during this
stage.
In the second stage of the project, the work plan prepared with
the participation of men and women will be implemented.
