A Rainy Day
On a rainy day, it rains all day long. In such a day, the sky remains cloudy. The sun is not seen at all.
The day looks dull and gloomy. Sometimes it rains heavily and sometimes it drizzles. Often there are
flashes of lightning and roars of thunder in the sky. Birds are hardly seen to fly. They take shelter on
the branches of trees. Cattle keep standing on their sheds. Although a rainy day promises to bring
refreshment, enjoyment and pleasure in our life, it is not free from creating troubles. In a rainy day,
none can go out without an umbrella. Every so often, due to heavy rain, roads and streets go under
water. As a result, vehicles cannot run on the road. Furthermore, rainy day brings sufferings to the
office-going people. Those who have offices and other businesses, go out with umbrellas over their
head, shoes in hand and clothes folded up to the knee. Passers-by also move in the same way.
Sometimes people slip and fall on the muddy road and injured themselves. A rainy day is a curse for
poor people because they cannot involve in any work and cannot earn their daily livelihood. They
pass the day through miseries. In addition, it also brings sufferings to the school going boys and girls.
Most student cannot reach to their educational institutions due to the damp weather. A few may show
their presence in the class but ultimately, classes are not held because of the absence of the majority.
Therefore, it becomes a joyous day to them. In short, a rainy day is a mixed day of joy and sorrow.
Despite of all its disadvantages, we enjoy ourselves on this day. It brings some variety to our
monotonous life.
