LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE

January 6, 2020

Topic / Title Electrical Charges

Grade Level Grade 7
Time Allotment 60 minutes
Teacher Erika Camel P. Lacno
Learning Competency
Describe the different types of charging processes (S7LT-IIIj13
Explain the meaning of earthing and grounding (S7LT-IIIj14)
Objectives
By the end of class, students should be able to:
1. Identify the types of electrical charges
2. Distinguish the two types of charges
3. Explain the formation of electrical charges
ELICIT (Access prior knowledge). Materials/Assessment Tool
1. What composes matter?
2. What are the subatomic particles in an atom?
3. Differentiate the subatomic particles.
ENGAGE (Get the students’ minds focused on the topic (short; question or picture).
Charged Intersections  Science 7 LM
1. Perform the short activity entitled Charged Intersections on page 264 of the  Paper and pen
Science 7 LM.
2. What are your observations during the short activity?
3. What form of energy you encounter in everyday life which is required to operate
appliances, gadgets, and machines?
EXPLORE (Provide students with a common experience).
1. The students will go to their respective groups.  Science 7 Learner’s
2. Each group will perform the activity entitled Am I Positive or Negative? on page Material
266 of the Science 7 LM.  Comic Strips
3. The students will study the comic strips from “Adventures in Electroworld” by  Science Activity
E.B. Clarion (2011) on page 267 of the Science LM and complete the following table. Notebook

EXPLAIN (Teach the concept. Should include interaction between teacher and students).
1. The students will present the table with answers in front of the class. Give some  Manila paper and
inputs missed by the students. After all the presentations, give the students time to ask marker
questions to clarify misconceptions.  PowerPoint
2. Introduce the following concepts using PowerPoint presentation. Presentation
a. Types of Charges (negative and positive)
b. Charging process (by friction)
c. Law of Conservation of Charge
d. Triboelectric Series
ELABORATE (Students apply the information learned in the Explain).
The students will answer the following questions  Science Activity
1. Does the charge of the material remain the same when paired up with other Notebook
material?
2. What rule could be applied in determining the charge of the materials?
3. How do electrical charges form?
EVALUATE (How will you know the students have learned the concept)?
True or False  Science Activity
1. An atom can gain or lose electrons. Notebook
2. Charges can be created or destroyed.
3. Materials can be charged through rubbing them together.
4. When materials are rubbed together, the charge of the material after losing
electrons is negative.
5. The total charge in a system must remain constant.
Identification
6. The charge of the material after gaining electrons. Negative
7. The device that could determine the charges of the materials when rubbed
together. Triboelectric series
8. The law that states that charges cannot be created nor destroyed, but can be
transferred from one material to another. Law of conservation of charge
9. The charging process when materials are rubbed together. Charging by friction
10. When hair and paper are rubbed together, which material would gain electrons?
hair

EXTEND (Deepen conceptual understanding through use in new context).

1. Describe the interactions you observed in the activities.
2. Differentiate between the interactions.
(This will lead to identifying two kinds of electric forces which will be discussed in
the next lesson.)

Reflection

A. No.of learners who earned 80% on the formative assessment.

B. No.of learners who require additional activities for
remediation.
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No.of learners who have caught
up with the lesson.
D. No.of learners who continue to require remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did these
work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or
supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I use/discover which
I wish to share with other teachers?
