I. OBJECTIVE:
At the end of the lesson, students must be able to:
a. use verbs when giving information and making explanations (ENG7G-IV-c-5).

There are basic rules for changing active and
passive voice.
Rule #1. The places of the subject and the object will
interchange. The subject will shift to the place of
object and the object will take the place of subject in
passive voice.
Rule #2. Only past participle form or 3rd form of verb
(e.g. eaten) will always be used as main verb in
passive voices for all tenses. No other form of verb
will be used as main verb.
Rule #3. The word “by” will be used before the subject
in the passive voice.
Rule #4. No other word such as “with or to” may also
be used instead of word by depending upon the subject
of the sentence. These words are used in few causes:
The word by is used in the most causes.
Ex. Water fills a tub.(Active)
A tub is filled with water.(Passive)
Rule #5. The Auxiliary verb will be changed in passive
voice depending upon the tense of sentence in the

G. Generalization
Direction: Identify the given sentences whether it is an active or passive voice. Write AV if it is
an active voice and PV if it is a passive voice.
