1.0 PURPOSE

1.1 The purpose this procedure is to define the stitching methodology for rexine materials.

2.0 SCOPE

2.1 This process is applicable to operators , supervisors of Rexine work shop in CDEL

3.0 INPUTS

3.1 Equipments: Sewing machine

3.2 Materials: Needles, Threads, Rexine material

3.5 Tools required : Scissors, needles

3.7 Documents: Job-card

4.0 PROCEDURE

4.1 Input Checking:

4.1.1 Upon arrival of rexine sheet and the warehouse receiver and I/C shall verify colour
wear / tear , marks if any defects are present replace those materials
4.1.2 Perform the visual inspection for all received components before process the work
like rexine colour,
4.2 Equipment preparation

4.2.1 Put on all safety equipment like apron and tie back loose hair or clothing before
operating
4.2.2 Check to make sure all parts of machine are working and functioning properly
4.3 Steps involved
4.3.1 Set up work piece for sewing, make sure sewing path is clearly visible
4.3.2 Set up sewing machine with correct needle( needle size 14-16), thread( polyster No
30-40), and desired sewing pattern (pattern options located on front face of machine)
4.3.3 Instructions on threading the machine
4.3.3.1 Winding the robbine
1. Place your thread spool on the spool pin. Place your spool of thread on the top of the
sewing machine, on the spool pin.
2. Pull the thread out.
3. Thread the bobbin.
4. Put the bobbin on the bobbin pin.
5. Start the bobbin winder.
6. Finish winding the bobbin.
7. Remove the bobbin.
4.3.3.2 Threading the upper part of the machine
1. Place the thread spool onto the spool pin.

2. Wrap the thread around the thread guide.


3. Pull the thread down.
4. Wrap the thread around the take up lever.
5. Thread the needle.
4.3.3.3 Threading the lower part of the machine
1. Remove the covering on the lower compartment
2. Unwind a few inches of thread from the bobbin.
3. Place the bobbin in the compartment below the needle.
4. Expose the bobbin thread.
5. Remove the covering on the lower compartment
6. Unwind a few inches of thread from the bobbin.
4.3.4 When ready, turn on sewing machine
4.3.5 Use foot pedal to control speed of needle in operation
4.3.6 Sew work piece along desired path while keeping hands a safe distance away from the
needle
4.3.7 When finished, turn off sewing machine
4.3.8 Unplug the machine, clean it, and put it back in the closet in its appropriate location
4.3.9 Clean workspace as needed from cotton cloth/ cleaning brush
4.3.10 Check list : Incomplete stitching , One/ more skipped stitches.
