Standard 5-3: The student will demonstrate an understanding of major domestic and foreign
developments that contributed to the United States becoming a world power. Enduring Understanding
The Industrial Revolution, urbanization, and access to resources contributed to the United States
becoming a world power in the early twentieth century. At the same time, discriminatory practices
abounded. To understand the rise of the United States as a world power, the student will utilize the
knowledge and skills set forth in the following indicators:

5-3.1 Explain how the Industrial Revolution was furthered by new inventions and technologies,
including new methods of mass production and transportation and the invention of the light bulb, the
telegraph, and the telephone.

industrial revolution. It is easy for the students to follow and also shows great video clips and
pictures to show them what the industrial revolution was like. It’s a great way for students to be
able to see what went on
2. BrainPOP: https://www.brainpop.com/socialstudies/ushistory/industrialrevolution/ These are
great videos for students to watch and then take the quiz after. The quiz at the end can even be
turned in for a grade.
3. Ducksters Education site:
https://www.ducksters.com/history/us_1800s/industrial_revolution.php This is a great website
I found on the Industrial Revolution. It allows students to see a timeline along with people,
technology and culture involved.
4. 5th grade Social Studies textbook- I want my students to still be able to use a textbook to read
about the industrial revolution, answer questions in the book, and together as a class review the
answers.
5. Kahoot: https://kahoot.com/family-friends/ Kahoot is an excellent way to test the students in a
little friendly competition! It’s an easy way to review and be able to review and answer any
questions.

This is a game students can play to test their knowledge on the Industrial Revolution. This is
something I would allow students to do if they finished their work early, etc.

Block-Lesson-460094 This is a great hands-on activity for the students. This would be fun for
them to do also easy and no mess!

would be for me as a teacher to gain more knowledge on the industrial revolution in a fun and
interesting way.

while they are coming into the room and maybe even while working on a project. It is an easy
video for the students to understand.

class would be a great way for any auditory learners to learn. They also have great pictures for
the students to look at and ask questions about.

Reflection:

The ISTE I chose for this particular project was Leader 2c: Model for colleagues the identification,
exploration, evaluation, curation, and adoption of new digital resources and tools for learning. This
ISTE seemed to suite this project well, because we found many different new resources and tools for
learning and teaching students. I tried to really incorporate ideas for every learning style. I found
new tools and resources that could definitely enhance learning and even make it for the students. I
believe in trying new things and seeing what works in the classroom that’s why I really have many
different projects and ideas in my project. I enjoyed this project because I got to explore many
different resources and possible ideas, I could potentially use in my own classroom one day.
