Lesson idea implementation:
When addressing the standards, students are to go out on the internet to access valid information about nutrition to create their own product. The teacher will show the students an example of what the students are going to be doing for the lesson. The project will be introduced in the beginning, then the teacher will show their example of the finished product, so students are able to see what the end product should look something like. The teacher will turn it over to the students to start looking for information over this project that they will be completing. This will take a whole class period, and either be assigned as homework to finish, or by the second time meeting in class it needs to be done. This will depend on how far the students get during the first-class period. Student learning will be assessed through their finished product, and the information that is presented within it. The final product will be used to inform student learning by creating their own product and giving them the chance to create it however they want. Students will have to find use their sex and age to find their daily recommendations for each food group. Students will use the audio to explain how much of the daily amount ITEC 3300_Roman Productivity Tools (PT) from each group that they need. An extension to student learning could be to give students a project for a week to try to incorporate these daily recommendations from each group into their daily lives. Then they would take a picture of their food and discuss over audio what they ate and how much (servings). By having the students present their project to the class, the lesson would be concluded. Providing feedback to students after they have presented is important. Peers will have the opportunity to provide feedback through a collaborative sheet that is sent strictly to the teachers and nobody else can see the answers. The teacher will provide questions regarding the projects and the peers will have to provide feedback for each person and submit it. Then, the teacher will provide the students with feedback on their final product based on the rubric guidelines. Reflective Practice: I feel that students have the opportunity to become creative using Adobe Spark. They have freedom to create their presentation in any way that they come up with. Students are instructed to go out and find information that is valid, so it helps them to practice finding information that is specific to their age and sex. To further extend this lesson, students would be to try to incorporate these daily recommendations for each food group and take pictures of each meal that they do it. However, if they were not able to get those daily recommendations, take pictures of what they ate and explain why they chose what they did. They could have an app that journals or keeps up with their food, the servings, the time eaten, etc. This could help students stay organized and since most students use technology, they can easily access this app.
