My Brother’s Peculiar chicken is one of the most meaningful and great short story written

by Alejandro Roces considered as the country's best writer of comic short stories. The story talks
about the weird chicken which Kiko and his brother found. They couldn’t tell whether it is a hen
or a rooster. It revolves around a question and proving the chicken’s real identity, for what they
are not sure. But most significantly, it does makes sense in one of the most import life lesson we,
as a 21st century individuals, should manifest and register within ourselves.
I chose Alejandro Roces work which is entitled My Brother’ s Peculiar Chicken not just
because the story is a humorous one and can surely catch anyone’s attention, but the story also
teaches us a wonderful message of existence. It gave us a realization of not trusting one’s beauty
and physical traits or appearance also being wise in a certain action that we might do because looks
can be very deceiving and confusing at the same time. That underpins why we should not always
scrutinize and judge something over looks, for our decisions matter for what we always see.
Always try to look at the bigger picture, discover new view and point also explore different
perspective of a certain thing, just like evaluating first the personalities of an individual rather than
its physical look.

The Devil doesn’t come dressed in red capes and pointy horns, he comes everything you’ve
wished for. Therefore, we must not criticize anything or someone only by its covering or physical
appearance. Even though someone is not totally looking good, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it
is something ugly or bad. Like meeting people, we don’t have to choose the beautiful or the
handsome one. The most important is that they are true to you.
