AND FINANCE SPORTSFEST 2018-2019
RULES AND REGULATION
Player Eligibility
1. All bona fide students who are enrolled in the University and in the institute for the current
semester can join the activities of the Sports Fest. (He/she can participate in two events only).
2. Athletics scholars (full/partial) who are currently playing for UAAP are not allowed to play in
their own event. Athletes who haven’t been playing for 2 consecutive years are allowed to
play in their own event.
3. All participants should submit eligibility documents (gallery folder attached are photocopy of
COR and ID).
4. Students will not be allowed to play if in the duration of the tournament cancels his/her
registration.
5. During the game, players must wear their official uniform. (No uniform, No game).
6. Protest must be presented in written form and should be given personally by Academic
Organization Officers (only one)/Sports Head/authorized committee or associates of the
respective Academic Organization to the Student Council Office within twenty-four (24) hours
following the incident that drew the protest. The Student Council will then resolve the protest
and give its decision before the next scheduled game.
7. Default time of 15 minutes are applied in Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, and
Chess. (As per game schedule).
8. Only one from the team captain, coach, officers, and the sports head is the only authorized
person to communicate with the floor officials in the matter of clarification of the rules but do
not have the right to question the judgement of the floor officials and may be penalized by
technical foul of forfeiture of the whole team.
9. Students whose majors/tracks are different from their respective Academic Organizations are
not allowed to play.
10. Player/s ejected from the game shall be automatically suspended on the game. Further
penalties may be imposed depending on the gravity of the offense committed. Players ejected
from the game twice shall be disqualified from the tournament.
11. Players under the influence of alcohol or prohibited drugs will be automatically removed in
the current game and suspended for 1 game. (See no.10)
12. In case of absence by the Sports Commissioners (IABF SC Officers), the Sports Committee
Head will be the officer in charge of the Sports Fest.
13. All players of the respective academic organizations should “The tournament commissioner is
empowered to make decision not specifically covered by the tournament rules and
regulations and tournament guidelines. He/she is also empowered to impose sanctions to any
team official, playing member of a team of game official, whose actions shall be negative to
the tournament.”

TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS: BASKETBALL

TOURNAMENT FORMAT
1. Competing team shall play a single-round robin.
2. After the single-round robin, Top 4 will be determined to play for Semi-finals.

GROUND RULES
1. Only (15) players are eligible to play
2. A team fielding an ineligible player shall lose the game by forfeit.
3. A game shall be forfeited if a team fails to field (5) eligible players 15 minutes after their
scheduled game.
4. Player must wear the prescribed uniform provided by the respective Academic Organization
for this game.
5. Undershirt (fitted) is allowed to wear.
6. The only people allowed to sit on the bench are those names who appear on eligibility list
including the Academic President and Sports Head and Officer-in-Charge.
7. No officials and/or players of a team shall approach any floor officials after their team’s game.
8. A player penalized for two (2) technical fouls or one (1) unsportsmanlike foul and/or
combination of both shall be withdrawn from the game but may play on his next team game.
Habitual offenders shall be disqualified from the tournament.
9. Player/s ejected from the game shall be automatically suspended on the game. Further
penalties may be imposed depending on the gravity of the offense committed. Player’s
ejected from the game twice shall be disqualified from the tournament.
10. Suspended player/s is/are not allowed to sit on the bench.
11. Teams forfeiting two (2) of its scheduled games upon the start of the tournament shall be
disqualified from the tournament.
12. A game shall be played 4 quarters (10 minutes per quarter, running time) during elimination
and semi-final game.
13. In case of force majeure (natural calamities). The following shall apply:
a. If force majeure occurred before the start of the game or during the first two
quarters of the game, the game shall be reset from the start of the first quarter;
the score, timeouts, fouls, etc. shall be void.
b. If the force majeure occurred in the last two quarters including extra period, the
game shall start at the same time the force majeure occurred. The score, timeouts,
fouls, etc. shall be valid.

TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS BADMINTON AND TABLE

TENNIS
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
1. Competing team shall play an elimination round per bracket.
2. The top 2 per bracket shall advance to the finals rounds as the final 4 and compete for
Championship.

BREAKING TIES
The classification of the rules shall take precedence in case of ties.
NOTE: in case of tie or ties of two or more teams during the elimination round, the international rule
of breaking ties should apply. For every game won 2pts; game loss – 1pt; default – 0pt.

GROUND RULES
1. Only 1 player for singles 2 players for doubles are eligible to play. (for men and women)
2. The respective player from the doubles division may play in the singles division provided that
the organization has no player for singles division; if the organization has a player for the
singles divisions and the player is absent on the game day they will be defaulted from their
respective game and no other player shall play in lieu for that players position.
3. A team fielding an ineligible player shall lose the game by forfeit.
4. A game shall be forfeited if a team fails to field 1 (for single) or 2 (for doubles) eligible player/s
15 minutes after their scheduled game.
5. Player must wear the prescribed uniform provided by the respective Student Organization for
this game.

badminton) during elimination and semi-final game and the championship game is 3 out of 5
sets.
