1. The Department of Education-Division of Camarines Sur through the Association of

Camarines Sur Secondary School Administrators (ACSSSA) will hold the 2017 CAMARINES
SUR SECONDARY SCHOOLS DIVISION BATTLE OF THE WISE (BOW ) on March 25, 2017 to
be held at the Freedom Sports Complex, San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur
2. The activity aims to:
a. assess the effectiveness of every secondary school along with the academic
performance of students in the K to 12 Curriculum and instructional competence of
teachers;
b. recognize exemplary achievements of both studentsand teacher-coaches;
c. foster camaraderie between and amongstudents, teachers, and school
administrators.
3. Attached herewith are the following:
a. Enclosure 1 - Program of Activities
b. Enclosure 2 - Working Committees

4. Since the activity falls on a Saturday, the attendance of all secondary school teachers and
school heads shall be given Service Credits and Compensatory Overtime Credit (COC),
respectively pursuant to DepEd Order No. 53 s. 2003.
5. For clarification on the implementing guidelines and contest mechanics, there will be an
orientation meeting of all secondary school heads on March 17, 2017 at 1:00 o’clock in the

6. A registration fee of Ph 30.00 shall be collected from each student participant to defray
expenses in the conduct of activities to be taken from the student club/organization, SSG
Fund, PTA, and other source funds while traveling expenses of student-participants,
coaches, teachers, and school heads shall be charged against local fund/MOOE subject to
the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.

Mechanics o f the 2017 Student Battle of the Wise (BOW )

1. The Student Battle of the Wise is an individual academic contest for public secondary
school students from Grade 7 to 10 covering the 8 learning areas except TLE Grade 9 and
10.
2. Participants to this activity are the expected top academic achievers from every public
secondary school in the Division of Camarines Sur.
3. There should only be one entry per subject area/specialization in the case of TLE Grade
7 and 8 in every grade level.
4. Only those with official ID from the registration committee are allowed to compete.
5. Each contestant shall prepare one test question with four options to be written in one
whole cartolina with the following specifications:
a. Font size - 2 “ , ail caps using black ink; Landscape orientation
b. Color coded cartolina

FILIPINO -LIG H T BLUE MAPEH -ORANGE
MATH -W H ITE EsP -LIGHT ORANGE
SCIENCE -LIGHT GREEN TLE -LIGHT VIOLET

6. The question with its Answer key shall be legibly written in a Vi size index card to be
attached to the color coded cartolina and shall be submitted to the Chief examiner in
exchange of a coded answer sheet. The name of the school and the coach should be
written at the back of the index card.
7. Sequencing of items will be based on the submission of test questions to the contest
committee. The number of contestants will be the same as the number of test questions
submitted.
8. There will be an assigned committee in every learning area by grade level composed of
Contest Supervisor, Chief Examiner, Asst. Chief Examiner and Secretary. The committee
is held responsible in facilitating the conduct of the contest, checking of answer sheets),
consolidation and submission of the result to the secretariat. (Note: Checking of answer
sheets shall be done by the contestants)
9. Questions which did not adhere to the specifications cited above will automatically be
disqualified but the student will be allowed to participate.
10. The top 10 winners shall be announced in each subject area per grade level and will
receive Certificate of Merit and cash prize as follows:
1st - P500.00; 2nd - P400.00; 3rd - P300.00; 4th- 200.00; 5th- P 100.00; 6th to 10th - P50.00
11. Same amount and a Certificate of Merit shall be awarded to their respective coaches.
12. Certificate of Participation and appearance shall also be given to all participants during
the awarding ceremony through the Vice-Presidents.
13. In addition to the individual winners, the contest working committee will also declare
an over-all champion based from the total number of individual wins. Customized banner
and Cash Prize will be awarded to the Champion (P5,000.00), 1st Runner Up (P4,ooo.oo),
2nd Runner Up ( P3,000.00) 3rd Runner Up (2,000.00) and 4th Runner Up (1,000.00)
14. The result of the 2017 Battle of the Wise is final and unappealable. It will be issued
through a Division Memorandum and to be posted in the ACSSSA FB Page.
