This document outlines an IOT based smart irrigation system project that aims to automate the irrigation process and reduce farmer effort. Soil moisture sensors will send data to a NodeMCU microcontroller board, which will turn a motor on or off depending on whether the soil is dry or wet. The data will also be sent to a web server for remote monitoring. This system is expected to reduce the human effort required to monitor irrigation across entire fields. Key activities to complete the project include planning, purchasing components, programming, assembly, testing, and reporting.

1. Title of the project: IOT based smart irrigation system
2. Objectives of the study: Automation of the process of
irrigation.
3. Rationale for the study: To reduce the effort put in by farmers
in reaching and tracking each corner of field while irrigating their fields.
4. Detailed Methodology to be used for carrying out the study:
Moisture content of soil sensed by Moisture Sensor will be sent to Wi-Fi module ESP8266 based microcontroller board NodeMCU which will turn ON or OFF the motor depending on whether the soil is dry or wet and also send the data on a web server which can be accessed from anywhere.
5. Expected contribution from the study: The study is expected to
contribute in reducing the human effort in monitoring the irrigation of the fields.
6. List of activities to be carried out to complete the project:
a. Planning the circuit design b. Purchase of components sensors c. Programming the microcontroller d. Assembly of project e. Testing and troubleshooting f. Preparation of the Project Report
7. Places/Labs/equipment and tools required for planning of
arrangements: Local market/online store for purchase of the components/Modules, Soldering tools of assembly of project.
