The Ruins “Taj Mahal of Negros” in Talisay City

Observation:
(TRECIA) Although it was called “The Ruins” the structure and the surrounding is still very well preserved.
It’s a historical place in which the structure or the mansion that aged for about 100 years old is still there.
However, some of the concrete pieces are already falling off due to rusty bars. It also has a huge and
well-maintained garden perfect for a much needed fresh air. It has beautiful surroundings and
perfect ambiance with a very relaxing atmosphere. The Ruins is a fantastic landmark to visit not
just because of the view but also of its history.

Implementation with the help of the 3 key players:

(DIANNE) We read an article about the plan for the expansion of the Ruins. The owner Mr.
Raymund Javellana wants to further develop and expand the tourism attraction after it was named as the
Best Destination in the category of heritage sites here in the Philippines. So the 3 key players which is the
tourists, the host population, and the government has a big role for the development and sustainability of
the said destination.
(TRECIA) For the tourists, they are the one who promotes sustainable tourism. They are the one who’s
capable of doing the protection and preservation of destinations by anticipating and respecting local
cultures. For example, by following simple rules of the heritage site like proper waste management and no
picking of flowers in the garden can be a very good way for the sustainability of that heritage site. Also by
supporting and embracing local cultures which conserve cultural heritage and traditional values. And lastly,
through supporting local economies by purchasing local goods and participating with small, local
businesses. Through this it can bring profit that can be used by the local community for the preservation of
the destination.
(DIANNE) For the host population the ecotourism is important for the livelihood of the local communities.
For example the people living in that certain place in which the heritage sites was build, they can sell foods
or products such as native or hand made products as their way of living, to earn money. Ecotourism engage
local communities so they benefit from conservation and economic development. By bringing tourists into
a destination, not only can local people meet their economic needs, but they also can maintain and enhance
the sense of place to guarantee its long term conservation and preservation of the destination. For the
government, the government agencies taking greater interest, allocating funds and time to
collaborative projects and they play a vital role in the planning, management, and development of
the destinations. In this case, the owner wants to make necessary renovations to protect the site’s
structure, he is considering the removal of the temporary roof on the first floor and replace it with a new
roof for visitors to feel the grandeur of the structure. His complete vision for the place is to put up a hotel
and a chapel that will complete the true story of what The Ruins is intended for, and since the site is poised
as a wedding destination. The chapel can be used for weddings and the hotel can be utilized for the lodging
of the guests while the reception can be held on the grounds. However, they may need the expertise of the
people from the government agencies like the National Historical Commission of the Philippines in carrying
out their plans. The National Historical Commission of the Philippines is a government agency of the
Philippines. Its mission is "the promotion of Philippine history and cultural heritage through research,
dissemination, conservation, and sites management."
VIDEO REFLECTION
(We are asked to watch a video regarding the Consumer Behaviour and Markets in the
different Sectors of Tourism and to make a video relection about it.)

Traveling is to go beyond the usual place where you stay. We've learned that there are some
factors to be considered in traveling like the destination (attractions; heritages, amusement parks,
etc.) And it is always between the supplier, intermediaries, and the customers. Peak seasons and
holidays are way more expensive in terms of the accommodations, airlines, and for the places than
to ordinary time or season. There are various ways in traveling it can be by air, land, or sea
(airplanes, cruises and ships, and private cars). There are 2 ways in booking to airlines; Booking
through agents or intermediaries and direct booking. I think direct booking is safer than the other
because you will be the one to go there personally to process your transactions. In today's time and
generation scammers and users are everywhere, they will take advantage the tourists’ money and
trust. In making a purchase decision; price, location, experience, and most especially the safety
should be considered all the time. Always remember that TOURISM has a wider aspects and
factors because it already includes places, food and beverage industry, transportations, technology,
and economy. Be wise in choosing where and when to visit and whose agency will you trust.
