ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The purpose of this training is to fulfil the requirement of “Probationary
Training in Road & Bridge Design Module” from 26th July, 2019 to 25th
September, 2019.
Thirdly, I would like to thank all Design office staff of Unit-VI for constantly
guiding and supporting me to understand Building Design and analysis work. I
was given basic knowledge about all the ongoing building design works in Unit-
VI. In the last but not the least I would like to thank all the technical and non-
technical staff of Unit-VI.

INTRODUCTION
Seismic retrofitting of buildings and bridges as per latest seismic codal provisions and
state of the art technology.
Preparation of guidelines for retrofitting of load bearing structure in Seismic Zone III,
IV & V.

1 PART-A: BUILDING DESIGN
The RCC Framed Structure is modelled using STAAD Pro. The load calculations and the load
combinations are done as oer the relevant IS codes. The structure is then analysed using
STAAD. The analysis results are then used for the design of the various elements of the
structure.
The design was carriesd out by Limit State Method in accordance with IS codes.
