1. Illegitimate generalizations result to stereotypes; it is a distortion because it creates a false

impression of the group that is being represented. There are stereotypes in television, movies,
etc.
a) Cite a film where you can identify generalizations. For instance, Mean Girls. Why are they
“mean” and how did they give false impressions to others?
- They are mean because they are rooting for the position or popularity in the school.
They pretend to be friend with Lohan so that they can destroy her in the upcoming
campaign.
b) Did you experience a stereotyped generalization? Describe the experience and explain why
you believe that you were subjected to this kind of generalization.
- Yes, sometimes I experience it. Even in the room. I think I’m subjected to it because this
is common to the society, those people that is stereotyping. They don’t have any
knowledge so that’s why they do it.
2. How do you access these words: “terrorists”, “pretty”, and “gay”? Are your assessments based
on generalizations or facts?

- I accessed these words as the basis of stereotyping in the society. They have own
standards of it. It is based on the generalizations because it always happens in the
society and even in the classroom.
