Social Structure and Interaction Reflection

Social structure and Interaction Assignment is one of the assignment that began my

sociological imagination. Upon researching and collecting data, I have learned to think critically

and practice my writing better. I start to identify myself and other people around me with the

specific social role that each individual possess. It is the beginning of my career choice as well. I

think about which social role I would like to play and would fit me the best. This knowledge of

understanding where my role stands, as a family member, a student in class, a supervisor at

work, I react differently in different situation and have the flexibility to turn myself into different

characters in different environments. I learned about role violation and it helps to better me as an

individual, as a person to complete my responsibility for each of my role and strive my best

every day.

Every society needs a structure. Social structure by definition is the stable pattern of a

social relationships that exist within a particular group of society. This structure is essential and

act as a platform that connects us to the larger society. It is beneficial to the survival of each

member of society because it provides the support and the human connection through

relationship we develop through every day life: school, work, at the market, at the library, at the

gym… According to the scholar Lars Eighner, the homeless people are the one that lost this link

to the world, the support, the human connection because they are struggling to fight for the basic

human survival needs: foods, clothing, shelters. Besides that, social interaction by definition is

the process that people act toward or respond to other people. Social interaction is the basic

foundation for all relationship between members and groups within society. These are the basic
concept to study Sociology because it provides the basic understanding of human interaction and

why people behave the way they do.
