Abstract
Mass and Acceleration are two components that affects time. With the use of Phet
simulation program, the experiment was conducted and the results of time in accordance to mass
and acceleration was solved. After the simulation, it is found out that the effect of mass and
acceleration in the time of the object’s movement is different from another
Introduction
The relationship between mass and acceleration is described in Newton's Second Law of
Motion wherein his second law states that the more mass an object has, more force is necessary
for it to accelerate. The mass of an object is a fundamental property of the object; a numerical
measure of its inertia; a fundamental measure of the amount of matter in the object. However, the
motion of an object does not always accelerate because of its mass due to gravity. With that
being said, mass and acceleration still takes their own individual roles on how they affect an
object’s speed as it moves to its terminal point.
Hypothesis
If the acceleration of the object gets faster, the lesser time it would take to reach its
terminal point.
Materials
The students used the Phet Simulation Program to test the acceleration and mass taken in
the motion of an object
Methodology
To get the acceleration in the piano’s movement, the students listed the different values of
acceleration and mass in a table to be tested in getting the value of time. Do the procedure
separately and identify the similarities or difference in both mass and acceleration.

After conducting in the simulation program, the table shows the difference between the
time indicated in the change of mass compared to the change in acceleration. The acceleration
decreased in time while the amount of mass didn’t affect the time as it stayed constant
throughout the experiment.
- The graph represents the change of time from the mass of 5kg to 25kg and
acceleration from 5 m/s2 to 20 m/s2 wherein the change only occurred on acceleration as
the time of mass stays constant.
