2. Effect – A change because of an action.
3. Push- A force that moves an object (usually from behind) to make it move away from
you.
4. Pull - A force that moves or drags an object to make it move towards you.
5. Flexible – Able to bend easily.
6. Air – The gas, that all living things breathe in.
7. Weight - The gravitational force acting on an object to pull it down.
8. Force meter – An instrument used to measure forces in newton (N).
9. Newton’s – The unit used to measure the strength of a force.
10. Gravity- The force that keeps us on earth.
11. Surfaces-Outside or top layer of something.
12. Friction- The force between two things moving across each other, it slows a moving
object.
13. Low Friction- Happens when two things slide easily over each other.
14. Rough- A property of some materials, uneven and not smooth to touch.
15. High Friction- When two things rub together and cannot move over each other easily.
16. Evidence- Proof or results.
KEYTERMS (Unit-IV)

1. Touch- One of the five senses, to use the skin to feel things.
2. Taste- One of the five senses, to use the tongue to taste different flavours.
3. Smell- One of the five senses, the ability to use the nose to sense (notice) different smells.
4. Sight- One of the five senses, being able to use the eyes to see.
5. Hearing- One of the five senses, the ability to use your ears to listen to sounds.
6. Eyes- Organs for sight (being able to see).
7. Skin- An organ, outer layer covering the body.
8. Tongue- The organ in humans and animals that contain the taste buds.
9. Fingerprints- A unique set of patterns on the fingers (archs, loops or whorls).
10. Pupil- The hole in the middle of the eye.
11. Light sensors- At the back of the eye, they send messages to the brain so that you can
see.
12. Iris- The coloured part of the front of the eye.
13. Eyelashes- Hairs under the eye and on the upper eyelid- they protect the eyes.
14.Nerves- The pathways that pass information to the brain so that you can do things (such
as see, touch, hear, move).
15.Optical Illusion- Something that tricks the eye into sending a false message to the brain.
16. Lungs- Organs in your chest for breathing.
17. Nostrils- The two open tubes in the nose through which you breathe in.
18. Mucus- Sticky, slimy substance in the nose, which helps to trap the dirt and dust.
19. Sorting criteria- Divide, sort or classify different things into groups according to one or
more properties.
20. Opaque- Materials that will not let light pass through them.
21. Taste Buds- Tiny bumps on the tongue of humans, they send messages to the brain
about different tastes.
22. Sour- A taste like a lemon or vinegar.
23. Bitter- Unpleasant, sharp and not agreeable taste.
24. Umami (Savoury)- A salty, spicy taste on the tongue.
25. Saliva- Spit, watery liquid in mouth, helps us to chew & swallow food.
26. Sound waves- Vibrations formed when air particles bump into one another, this travels
through the air, helping you to hear.
27. Inner ears- Parts of the air that controls hearing and balance.
28. Sound sensors- In our ears, they send messages to the brain about sound waves so that
we can hear.
29. Source of sound- The object that makes the sound.
30. Hearing aids- Device that allows people who are hard of hearing to hear better.
31. Amplify- Make louder.
32. Ear Trumpets- Type of hearing aid, used before hearing aids were invented, to amplify
