For decades, the term “medical tourism” conjured 2 distinctly different images:

• The affluent traveling to tropical destinations for elective surgeries.


• Individuals crossing borders to find care that wasn’t available close to home.
WHY MEDICAL TOURISM?

• Well- trained health practitioners.


• Competitive cost of medical treatment.
• Large populace of fluent linguistic doctors and medical staff.
• Involvement of insurance agencies.
• Tax benefits by Govt.in tertiary care.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

• To study the factors which are attracting the international patients to Chennai.
• To study the satisfaction level of International Patients
• To compare the cost of the treatment in Chennai with foreign countries.
Tourism Potential:
People, who come for relatively simple, but important procedures, can consider packing in some
travel too, with their doctor’s permission. This is an added advantage. Every part of the country is
rich in history and diverse in geography.

• Low cost surgeries and medical treatments by expert doctors
private medical care in collaboration with the tourism industry.
• State -of-the-art medical hospitals having international standards.
• Rising incomes, greater health awareness, lifestyle diseases & increasing insurance penetration will
contribute to growth.
• Healthcare expenditure in India is expected to increase by 12% per annum.
