 What is Culture?
The most common definition describes culture as a system of values and beliefs which we share
with others, all of which gives us a sense of belonging or identity. Culture is comprised of
elements such as history, religion, language, traditions, values, beliefs and customs. It is instilled
early on in life but is constantly evolving. It defines who we are and how we should behave and
must be understood before effective communication can occur.

 How does culture shape our moral behavior

Culture plays a vital role in shaping the society and the country. A good culture makes it easy
and natural to progress, a collective progressive behavior is a boon to a country. It seems like
progress is happening behavior works. You could influence others by introducing your roots to
them.

 What is cultural relativism

Cultural Relativism is the view that moral or ethical systems, which vary from culture to culture,
are all equally valid and no one system is really “better” than any other. This is based on the idea
that there is no ultimate standard of good or evil, so every judgment about right and wrong is a
product of society. Therefore, any opinion on morality or ethics is subject to the cultural
perspective of each person. Ultimately, this means that no moral or ethical system can be
considered the “best,” or “worst,” and no particular moral or ethical position can actually be
considered “right” or “wrong.”

 What are the strengths and weaknesses of cultural relativism

Strengths
-Cultural relativism creates a society without judgment
-It preserves human cultures.
-It creates a society where equality is possible.
-It is a system which promotes cooperation.
Weaknesses

-It would create chaos.

-It draws people away from one another.
-It is an idea that is based on the perfection of humanity.
-It could limit humanity’s progress.
 Survey differences in moral behavior of different cultures.
Being independent
Countries like USA are more independent than us Filipinos, when they reached the age of 18,
they move out to their home so that they can do what they want in life. They work while they
are studying so that they can provide enough money for their selves. We Filipinos are very tight
to our family, even we graduated in college, we still live by our parent houses, we only move
when we’re about to step in to marriage

Our language
our country is very diverse, we get to meet different people with different personalities. We
have different dialects. In Pampanga area, they talk loud and they don’t care what people think
to them because it’s their culture in Pampanga. While in Cavite, our first impression to some is
“mayabang” because of the way they talk.

Whale treatment
Most countries treatment about whales is beauty and our mindset is we must protect and
preserve the whales in this world. Due to their weather, it’s hard to maintain a proper source of
protein in Iceland such as pork and beef. So it became their culture to kill whales because it’s
their main source of protein. It became a tradition to kill whale since then and it passes through
the generation.
