 The Path Travelled:

 The names of different paths indicate to some extent their inclinations.

 Horizontal means zero inclination, vertical refers to 900 inclinations.

 The Course Followed

 The course followed indicates, to a certain extent, the freedom of movement, which can be
exercised.

 The Kind of motion

 The kind of motion refers to the motions of actuating medium.

 It may be a continuous motion such as we get by means of belt conveyors.

 It may be an intermittent motion as characterized by stop and go and it need not necessarily
be along any particular kind of path or course.

 It may be a reciprocating motion as to and fro over same fixed path of travel, as in Lifts.

CONCLUSION
The handling elements, which when combined together in various ways, make up the characteristics of
the various categories of handling.
