IEEE Student Branch Manipal is a section of the world’s largest technical
organization, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York.
Our objective is to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of
humanity.In keeping with these objectives, we have held the following:
Annual events i.e. Workshops and Tech Talks
Hosting of 2019 IEEE DISCOVER (3rd IEEE Intl. Conference on Distributed
Computing, VLSI, Electrical Circuits and Robotics)
Tech Week events including Hackathons and Paper Presentation

In Tech Week 2020, IEEE SBM strives to follow in the footsteps of innovators, explorers
and discoverers under the theme “Navigare” by promoting inventions and applications
of ideas amongst the youth.We inculcate a pioneering spirit in students by
exposing them to new trends in technologies and to unfamiliar fields.
There will be events in the technical domains of Computer Science, Electronics and
Graphics, with two flagship events - a Hackathon and Paper Presentation.
There will also be Informal events inviting mass participation of all university students.

HACK4CAUSE
Safety, Security and Surveillance are an essential part of our daily lives.
Protection is required from threats concerning our safety, whether online
or in our own homes. There is a need for effective and implementable ideas
to improve the quality of the security available. The IEEE_Makeathon,
hack4cause, gives you a platform to brainstorm about the issue and
assemble your project in 20 hours. Showcase and present your idea and
bring a difference to the world. Safety, Security and Surveillance being theme for
this Hackathon.

INNOVATIVE EDGE
A Paper Presentation event focusing on modern problems. Present your paper
before a panel of qualified judges and showcase your scientific knowledge.
The participants are required to choose amongst the following topics:

EXPEDITION
An online coding competition hosted on Hackerrank. In a solo battle
of coding skills and logic against time, prove your worth and rise on
the leaderboard as the ultimate explorer. Discover all that this
expedition holds for you.

CODEQUEST
An offline coding event for teams of 2. We require coding skills, logical abilities and
a flair for adventure.Answer correctly, and your horizon widens.
Explore the unknown lands that lie before you and emerge as the victor of
this quest.

BLACK FLAG
Bring your RC ship, assemble your crew and get ready to join the ranks of pirates.
Sail through the obstacle course and prove your ship’s worth- be agile and responsive.
In the next round, go head to head with other teams in an elimination challenge.
Prove your mettle and emerge victorious.

SCIENTIA
An Arduino Workshop by experienced teachers with a vast knowledge.
Rise amongst your peers by attending this workshop and build a foundation
for research and project making.
Learn a new skill to build upon and add to your CV.

MAGNA ODYSSEY
Set sail on a voyage to unknown islands and different landscapes.
Journey through rough seas and navigate your way through rough storms.
Create your own adventure, from start to finish.
Represent this on a poster using limited colours and objects in a battle
against time. Using your imagination and presentation, take away
the grand prize of a T-shirt depicting your design on it.

informal events
SCOUT ABOUT
A treasure hunt event for teams. Solve riddles and piece together puzzles in a
battle against time. With hints instead of weapons, and lifelines as a last resort,
venture into the unknown. Set out on a voyage across Manipal and explore
its hidden secrets.

INQUIZTIVE
A quiz on voyage-themed trivia. Travel through different worlds, different times
and different universes for answering our questions. Hunt down lost artefacts,
journey till the end of the earth – finish the quest successfully and win the
grand prize.
