other text types serve as instruments to resolve social conflicts, also how to use the language of
research, campaigns and advocacies.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learner competently presents a research report on a
relevant socio-cultural issue.

I- Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
1. Determine the difference of static and dynamic types of characters.
2. Appreciate the characters by matching the characters conflict and its setting through
boardwork.
II- Subject Matter:

Task 1 STATIC OR DYNAMIC
1. By group.
2. Open the book on page 439-400.
3. Classify the following popular characters according to whether they are static or dynamic
Write your answers under the correct column.
A2- Analysis:
1. What are your impressions about the activity?
2. How did you complete the activity?
3. What do you think is the difference between static and dynamic characters?
4. Are static and dynamic characters different from flat and round characters?
5. What are the other terms that we can use to classify characters?
A3- Abstraction:
The teacher will discuss the types of characters:
1. STATIC - A static character is someone who does not change over time; his or her
personality does not transform or evolve.
2. DYNAMIC - A dynamic character is a person who changes over time, usually as a result of
resolving a central conflict or facing a major crisis. Most dynamic characters tend to be central
rather than peripheral characters, because resolving the conflict is the major role of central
characters.
3. ROUND - A rounded character is anyone who has a complex personality; he or she is often
portrayed as a conflicted and contradictory person.
4. FLAT - A flat character is the opposite of a round character. This literary personality is
notable for one kind of personality trait or characteristic.
A4- Application:
Task 2 DOUBLE MATCHING TYPE
Match the setting in column A with the characters in column B and the conflict in column
C.
1. Let the student’s complete task 2.
2. Process the activity by letting the students answers the questions after this task in the LM.
3. Each column represents an element of short story. Column A represents the setting, column B,
characters, and column C, conflict.
4. The setting of the story heightens the conflict.
5. The supporting character highlights the personality of the main character and aids him in
resolving the conflict.
