NCWIT Aspirations in Computing (AiC)

Volunteer Opportunity
Do you want to be inspired by the next generation of technologists who self-identify
as women, genderqueer, or non-binary?
NCWIT needs volunteer application reviewers like you for two AiC awards this 2019-20 season:
the Award for AiC (for high school students)
the NCWIT Collegiate Award (for college students)

Ninety-five percent of AiC application reviewers report that it was a great experience!
It doesn’t take much: volunteer reviewers complete application reviews at their own pace, and spend an
average of three hours reviewing.

Who can volunteer?

All individuals who are interested in encouraging girls and women in tech are welcome to volunteer,
including eligible AiC Community members! [Note: technical people are particularly encouraged to volunteer
for reviewing NCWIT Collegiate Award applications.]

“I’ve reviewed the Collegiate Award applications for the past two years, and the work some
of these students are doing blows my mind! I am amazed at the commitment and curiosity
these young women show in their respective fields.”
~ Volunteer Application Reviewer

We receive thousands of award applications each year, and we need lots of volunteers. Please SHARE this
opportunity with anyone who may be interested.

When can I volunteer?

Plan to start on October 24 and continue through December 6, 2019; though review deadlines for the two
awards are staggered. Additional opportunities will be available in Winter 2020 for the Finalist Round of the
Collegiate Award.

How can my colleagues, peers, and I sign up?

Visit aspirations.org/VolunteerReviewer for more details about requirements
and important dates, to register as a reviewer, and to get started!
