A constitution is a set of rules that guides how a country, state, or other political organization

works. The Constitution creates the branches of government and gives them the power to
govern. However, it also protects the citizens of the United States and guarantees their basic
rights. .
Supreme Law of the Land/ It is the highest form of law in the country= All laws must comply with
the principles set in the constitution. The government cannot pass a law which goes against the
Constitution. No person, not even the President, can go against it. The courts and the government must
also make sure what they do is constitutional. The Constitution itself is protected because it is difficult to
change a constitution.

Did you know that for every change in the constitution in the Philippines, the President released
a proclamation to commemorate the date when the new charter took effect? This day is called
Constitution Day.
