STRATIGRAPHY
Stratigraphy in the broad sense is the science that discusses rules, relationships and events (genesis) of
various rocks in nature in frame of space and time, while in the narrow sense stratigraphy is the science
of description of layers of rock.

STRATIGRAPHY CLASSIFICATION
Stratigraphy classification is a grouping rock system based on various ways, to facilitate
description, rules and relationship between one rock to another. The above mentioned system
group is known as the Stratigraphic Unit.

LIMITS OF STRATIGRAPHY UNITS
The boundaries of Stratigraphic Units are determined in accordance with the limits for the
distribution of such unit characteristics as defined. Specific Stratigraphic Unit boundaries do
not have to coincide with the boundaries of other types of Stratigraphy, can even overlaped
another

STRATIGRAPHY NOMENCLATURE
The Stratigraphic nomenclature is the naming rule of stratigraphic units, both official and unofficial, so
there is uniformity in the names and notions of names such as Formation / Zone / Zone, System and so on.

OFFICIAL AND UNOFFICIAL STRATIGRAPHY NOMENCLATURE UNIT

In cryptic recognized the official and unofficial name. The rules of using the official and unofficial units of
each stratigraphic unit, adhere to the limits of the units concerned. Naming unofficial units should not
disrupt the official.
