Sunday Trivias (All about October)

As September ends and October begins, here’s what you need to know about the month’s
interesting facts:
1. October is the Latin for “The Eight Month”
One of the original Roman calendar months, October literally translates to “eighth month.”
Because the original Roman calendar began with March, October was the eighth month, just as
September, meaning seven, was the seventh month. Same with November (nine) and December
(10).
Today, with our calendar beginning in January, October is the 10th month.
2. The Finnish for October is lokakuu meaning “dirty month”.

3. In the UK, it is also Black History Month, Lupus Awareness Month, Breast Cancer
Awareness Month and National Cholesterol Month.

4. October babies are more likely to be athletic.

Research suggests that October babies are more physically fit and athletic than those
born in other months. A study published in the International Journal of Sports
Medicine tested the strength, stamina and cardiovascular fitness of 9,000 kids between
10 and 16 years old and found that those born in October and November performed
significantly better than their peers. One possible explanation? More sunshine and vitamin
D for moms-to-be means stronger bones and muscles for their babies.

5. In October 7, 1950, Mother Teresa opened the Missionary of Charity
