Aiken Man Chokes Female Who

Invited Him to Her Bedroom
Sheriff’s deputies last
Thursday arrested an Aiken
man accused of choking a
woman who invited him into
her bedroom.
Anthony Coates Jr., 26,
was charged with assault
and battery, according to jail
reports.
Aiken County Sheriff’s
deputies said he came to
Aleta Johnson’s home in
Beech Island around 4:30
a.m. and tapped on her
bedroom window. She
immediately unlocked the
door and let Coates in.
Johnson said they went to
her bedroom, where he “got
loud,” straddled her and
choked her.
According to reports,
Johnson screamed several
times. Her dad eventually
burst through her bedroom
door and tore Coates from
his daughter, the report
says. Deputies later arrested
him at Clearwater Village

Together they carried out robberies, targeting homes of
rich families, as a daily job. In 2009, the family murdered
a paratrooper, Dmitry Chudakov, his wife Irina, and their
two children—killing with a semi-automatic rifle. All the

and hairdryer. Other victims included Inessa’s own

and had a collection of guns in the house. The family
tortured the two teenage girls and gouged their eyes out
before stealing the weapons.

died during the shootout with police but Inessa and her
daughters are currently serving their sentences in prison.
Speaking of the murder spree, the matriarch of the family
said, “It’s just like another day at the office.”

Rose worked as
a prostitute, at
her husband’s
insistence, and
often while he
watched. She
regularly fell
pregnant by
both her husband and her customers, giving birth to
eight children in total, as well as looking after Fred’s
daughter and stepdaughter from previous marriages.
In 1973, the pair were fined for the indecent assault of
beauty queen Caroline Roberts, who was abducted and
raped before escaping their house. Soon the couple
realized that if they wished to continue their crimes,
their victims should not be allowed to tell the tale.
Their usual tactic was to offer a woman on the street
a lift home, take her back to their house and murder
her. Later, the body would be buried in a cellar or back
garden. Rose’s gender was crucial in allowing the pair
to commit their crimes; women traveling alone at night
were more likely to accept a lift from a couple than from
a single male driver.
Finally, in 1995, they were convicted of murder and
sentenced to life. Fred killed himself while in custody
pending his trial and Rose will live out the rest of her
days behind bars.
Ray & Faye Copeland
Ray and Faye Copeland killed five drifters at their
Missouri farm during the 1980s. When they were
convicted of the murders, Ray was 76-years-old and
Faye was 69-years-old, which made them the oldest
couple in America to receive the death penalty.
Ray was well-known for his fraudulent schemes,
he hired the drifters to buy cattle with fake checks.
Once the cattle had been bought, Ray would re-sell
the livestock at a much higher price and then kill off
the drifter. They were finally caught when one drifter
spotted human remains at the farm and he reported
this to the police.
Faye’s lawyers claimed that she had nothing to
do with the murders and she was psychologically
abused by her husband. She said, “I begged (Ray)
time and time again to please stay out of trouble. We
had our home and everything paid for. So why would
he turn around and mess all that up just like he has?”
That was until they discovered she had made a quilt
out of the clothing belonging to the dead men. They
both died behind bars.

Man Assaults Wife While Kids Open Christmas Presents
An argument on Christmas

in jail.

police headquarters.

 Politician’s Wife Pours Soda on Reporter
The wife of a county commissioner in
Georgia was arrested for pouring soda on the
head of a reporter.
Abbey Winters – the wife of Chattooga
County’s sole county commissioner – was
charged last Friday with simple battery and
disorderly conduct for the Dec. 13 incident.
The journalist’s crime? She asked the
woman’s husband, Jason Winters, a difficult
question about a trip to France. She was
apparently investigating the potential misuse
of funds by the commissioner to pay for his
honeymoon.
Mrs. Winters was witnessed pouring a fountain drink on Casie Bryant,
who works for a news publication called AllOnGeorgia.
Police say Winters told them it was an accident and that she had tripped
and fallen. But witnesses say it was intentional and the suspect shouted,
“She deserved it.”
Dumb Crook’s Photo Goes Viral
A Texas man’s photo of a thief went viral because of the
funny caption.
“To the genius that ripped the camera off my house
last night, the videos aren’t stored in the camera itself,”
Lubbock resident Cody Craig Sledge posted on Facebook
along with this photo.
“Does anyone know this moron?” Sledge asked.
While there was no immediate word of an arrest, the
photo was shared across the Internet over 10,000 times
with over 130 comments.

California Couple Caught Stealing Christmas Mail

A California couple was found with
more than 100 pieces of stolen mail in
their car in Northern California, stealing
presents and letters in the days leading
up to Christmas.
Jeremy Blumlein, 41, and Breanna
Maier, 26, were arrested on suspicion
of identity theft, mail theft and
probation violation. Blumlein was
also being held for recklessly evading
authorities and possessing a controlled
substance.
Butte County authorities answered
a call for someone stealing mail in
Durham at 2 a.m. Dec. 23. After a brief
chase, the driver of the suspect vehicle
lost control, and it ultimately rolled
over.
Inside the car, authorities said they
found “108 packages and envelopes
addressed to approximately 56 people
and 37 different addresses.” They also

lot of surveillance images as we try to help
police catch shoplifters, burglars and other
crooks. We posted some Columbia County
photos on June 12 that showed two Belk
shoplifters who walked out with four
handbags worth over $800. The images
were crystal clear, helping identify the
suspects as Ashlyn Daggett and Teausha
Germany. The original post also sparked
over 1,200 shares and reactions like this

Quandrequez Burley was too much for readers

AUGUSTA STORE: A September video we shared
of violence and gunfire outside E T Food Store on
East Boundary Street in Augusta was the most
popular post of the year. The minute-long clip from
a witness showed two women in a violent fight. One
of them lost her top a few times. The end showed
two cars wrecking into each other, a woman pulling
out a bat and a man shooting at a car as it sped
away. At the time, RCSO authorities said they
knew nothing about the incident. The post sparked
over 1,000 shares and more than 700 comments,
including one from the mother of one of the fighters.

An Augusta woman took advantage of a disabled
friend last Friday, taking off with his car and his credit
card, authorities said.
The 74-year-old victim requires a wheelchair, but he
was on the ground working on a plumbing issue in his
kitchen when Ladonna Sharkey
came to visit last week. She
stayed in the living room when he
was in the kitchen, according to a
sheriff’s report.
Later, he called for her to
help him off the floor. She didn’t
answer and he soon realized
why. She had taken off with his
2003 Ford Focus along with his
Ladonna Sharkey, wallet, according to the report.

Registered Sex Offender Charged
with Raping Augusta Woman
An Aiken sex offender was charged
Monday with raping a woman at the

said.
Kenneth L. Johnson, 53, was captured
immediately and charged with rape and
sodomy in the shocking crime, according
to a sheriff’s report.

forcibly had sexual intercourse with her
against her will and without her consent on
the bed,” the report said.
The victim was taken to Augusta
University Medical Center for treatment.
It’s unclear why Johnson was in Aiken.
He is a sex offender with a registered
address in Aiken stemming from a 2009
conviction for rape in South Carolina.

Christopher Meyer, 34, was
arrested Saturday in connection
with the Nov. 21 assault.
The Martinez victim, who is

told authorities that she let the
suspect come over to watch
the kids while she was at work.
When she was done at work, she
stopped by Checker’s to pick up
dinner on the way home.
The victim returned home
to find Meyer “extremely
intoxicated.” He then got furious
that she didn’t get dinner from
the Carolina Ale House, so he
grabbed her by the throat and
pushed her up against the wall
in front of their children, a report
says. When she called the
sheriff's office, Meyer left in his
blue Chevy pickup truck. Meyer
was finally caught last weekend
and charged with simple battery
– family violence.
In a separate incident from
October, the same victim said
Meyer was over at her house
when he spit on her and threw
ashes from a cigarette on her. He
also punched holes in the walls
of her hallway, a sheriff’s report
says. Meyer has been charged
with criminal trespass for that
