I. LEARNING COMPETENCY
Chemicals are selected and used for cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment and utensils.

OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. Identify the types of sanitizing methods.
2. Illustrate the advantages and disadvantages of chemical sanitizers.
3. Value the importance of performing sanitizing methods in the kitchen.

II. LEARNING CONTENT


Lesson: Cleaning and Sanitizing
Sub-Topic: Types of Sanitizing Methods
Materials: Slides Deck, Masking Tape, Chalkboard, Eraser, Laptop, Projector

Task 1: Scavenger’s Hunt
The teacher will present a crossword puzzle. Then, the students are going to draw a line
over the word they’ve found inside. (The students will be given 2 minutes to finish their task
then, the teacher will ask the question below.)

 What do you think is the relevance of these words you’ve found inside the
puzzle to our topic yesterday?

C. Activity
Task 2: A Video to Remember
The teacher will play a 8 minutes video clip. Afterwards, the teacher will ask the
following questions below.

Task 3: Inquiry-Based Learning
1. What are the chemical sanitizers being used in the video?
2. How about through heat sanitizing method? Is there any chemical sanitizer used in
the video?
3. Why do you think it is important that you or your mother should atleast once a week
the sanitizing methods at your home?

E. Abstraction
Task 4: Emoji Time!
The teacher will read 5 sentences that will describe the different chemical sanitizers.
Then, students are going to raise their emoji. (smiley for advantage and sad face for
disadvantages)

F. Application
Task 5:
The teacher will divide the class into 3 groups according to their rows. Then, the
following tasks will be assigned to them to draw on a short bondpaper. The groups will
given 8 minutes to finish their task.
