Evaluation

I have just completed filming the multi-camera production of The Jake Hegarty Show. For
this production, the whole class worked as a team to put together a short documentary chat
show about the different challenges Derry/Londonderry faces currently. The class worked
very well to fix any problems that came our way. We had all planned on doing the video in
one take however with problems such as the audio cutting it meant that we had to do it in
two takes separating Rachael’s interview from Adam & Aodhans.

My role was both being an interviewee and a mic operator, this meant that I had to make
sure that the mic I was in charge of was turned on, had battery and in range before filming.
This gave me a small responsibility on set however with being an interviewee it meant that I
could not carry out a bigger role such as camera operator. If I was to do it over again I would
prefer to be behind camera as I was very anxious with being in front of it and it meant I
could have had a lot more to do with the short piece.

Before we done the actual shoot on the day, we had many practices runs which helped Jake
narrow down his questions and gave us a chance to help our on-screen chemistry with the
interviewer and the interviewees. The reason that we done so many practice runs was so
that we could each learn our own role and see what we needed to change or add to make
the production go as smoothly and effectively as possible.I am very pleased with how the
product turned out, there are of course things I would love to change however I feel that it
was made very well for our first product that was live.
