Purpose
This Overview gives information needed by project managers and foremen, for
presentation to the customer and for site planning.

Overview
The equipped value of the equipped status status attribute indicates the presence of the
transcoding rate, adaptation, and radio transmission capacity in the BTS, which shows
that the required BTS equipment is present.
HR Flexibility allows the user to define the speech-coding rate at the TRE/TWIN
TRA/MC TRE and TRX level. Full Rate TREs/TWIN TRAs/MC TREs are treated before
Dual Rate TREs/TWIN TRAs/MC TREs.
If a TRE/TWIN TRAs/MC TREs are added to a cell split on two BTSs, the TRX attribute
is set to main or secondary, depending on where the TRE/TWIN TRA/MC TRE is
added.
The scenario uses configuration management rules specific to the 9153 OMC-R.

In order to create a required configuration, it is possible to add more than one TRE/TWIN
TRA/MC TRE.
Cases
The following cases apply:
• C1: BTS with frequency hopping system declared
• C2: New TRE/TWIN TRA does not have a frequency allocated and after the
operation it remains OPR
• C3: Only G3 and G4 TRE are added
• C4: Add new TWIN TRA/MC TRE modules
• C5: Add new MC TRE modules dedicated for other standards usage.
Note: The default TRE/TWIN TRA allocation mode is automatic mode.
Options
The following options apply. Note that the default is a BTS without frequency hopping
where the frequency for the new TRE/TWIN TRA is known and the TRE/TWIN TRA
remains in traffic after the operation.
• O1: TRE allocation mode: on demand
• O2: TWIN TRA allocation mode: on demand
This option applies also if antenna hopping is configured on the cell.
As follows:
– O2.1: TWIN TRA is configured as 1 TRX, Non-TX-Div, 2 RX-Div
– O2.2: TWIN TRA is configured as 1 TRX, TX-Div, 4 RX-Div
– O2.3: TWIN TRA is configured as 2 TRX, Non-TX-Div, 2 RX-Div
• O3: MC TRE allocation mode: on demand
• O4: MC TRE software preload.
Restrictions
The following restrictions apply:
• This procedure does not cover adding a TRE to a low loss configuration, which
implies antenna reconfiguration.
• The addition of a MC TRE is not possible if the BTS is equipped with ANX or ANY
because of the higher RF power of MC TRE.

Preparation
Prerequisites
The following prerequisites apply:
• BTS sites are clean, tidy, and easily reachable
• The OMC-R is in Release B12. The BSC must be operational and running in Release
B12.
• There are enough resources (Abis timeslots and TCUCs) to handle new TREs/TWIN
TRAs/MC TREs (TCH, SDDCH, LAPD)
If there are not enough, perform Alcatel-Lucent Base Station - Attach Secondary Abis.
• Test frequencies must be available
• When adding a TWIN TRA/MC TRE, ensure that the BTS is equipped with
SUMA/SUMX
• To have 3G capability on the MC TRE 900 modules of the BTS, the cabinet must be
equipped with d2u board
• To have 4G capability on the MC TRE 900 and the MC TRE 1800 modules of the
BTS, the cabinet must be equipped with BBU board
• The BTS must not contain any G3 TREs for a configuration with more than 12 TREs

• The BTS logical configuration must not exceed a maximum number of 24 TRXs.
Refer to Alcatel-Lucent 9100 Base Station - Hardware Description for the
recommended hardware configurations.
• For new MC TRE modules take into account the cable set needed according to the AN
it will be connected to. See Alcatel-Lucent 9100 Base Station - Hardware Description.
• MC-Modules are licensed separately using a LKDI license file installed at Centralized
License Manager Server. Make sure the LKDI license is installed and enough licenses
are availlable in case of adding MC-Modules. Contact the Customer License Manager
(CLM) representative person for any issues related to MC-Modules LKDI license.
• For O4 the MC TRE software to be loaded must be available on the BTS NEM PC
together with an Ethernet cable used for the connection between PC and MC TRE.
The BTS NEM PC IP address needs to be set to 192.168.0.1.
The MC TRE software files can be retrieved from one of the following:
– OMC-R location /alcatel/var/share/oef/SDPPackage/<SDP Name>
– original source of the OMC-R SDP package.
– BTS Post-commissioning SW Package
Note: The source folder must contain files with the y0snxxxx.zzz format, where:
• y is W for MC TRE 900, Y for MC TRE 1800, X for MC RRH 900 and Z for MC
RRH 1800
• s is W for the MC TRE TDM operational software files, I for MC TRE IP
operational software files and O for the origin software files
• n is a unique number for each file
• xxxx.zzz depends on the release version.
Site Specific Information

You must have the following specific information to complete the scenario:
• BTS name and hardware characteristics
• Customer report about BTS and cell configurations
• TRE/TWIN TRA/MC TRE auto-allocation mode status (automatic / on demand)
• FHS to be defined, if necessary
• Number of TRE/TWIN TRA/MC TRE to add
• Frequency Allocation Plan, or the frequency, to be created for the new TRE/TWIN
TRA/MC TRE(s) and test frequency.

Overview
Attention: Perform this section only in case BTS is attached to an 9120 BSC with
Radio Hopping or No Hopping defined on the impacted cell.
Procedure
Activate the PRC:

1 If Radio Hopping or No Hopping has been defined on the impacted cell and BTS is
attached to an 9120 BSC,activate PRC (PRC1).
Choose to activate using these options:
• Queued Activation
• With Cell cleanup
• Without forcing Administrative State.
Display Pending Activations List, to see when the activation is finished.
Note: The activation time depends on the number of cells.
During the activation, there is a supervision outage for 1.5 min.
Telecom and GPRS outage: 1 min./cell only for C1.
As there is a new TRX, if it has a higher priority than the old TRX, calls and packet
traffic are cut on the lower priority TRX.
Attention: During the activation, the impacted cell(s) become(s) yellow and the GSM
Alarm is Loss-of-TCH. This alarm disappears when the TRE hardware installation is
finished.

Note: Use the Alcatel-Lucent 9100 Base Station - Hardware Description for the
appropriate BTS type.

Note: If a new MC TRE module is present in the BTS cabinet and O4 doesn't apply,
the task can take up to 115 min.
The TWIN TRA Settings and Multicarrier Settings windows automatically open if the
BTS is equipped with a TWIN TRA/MC TRE modules.
No operator action is allowed until the hardware modifications are accepted.
This triggers the BTS to poll equipment.
